  • Job Title: Youth Education Coordinator Status: Non-exempt

    Type: Full-time: 30 hours per week, including Saturdays, teaching and pedagogical/administrative work

    Compensation: $33,000 annual minimum based on qualifications and experience, 3 weeks scheduled PTO, health insurance, 401(k) retirement plan with employer match, free parking.

    Effective date: April 20, 2024

    Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

    • Prepare and teach general and specific topic Alliance Française French language classes on and off-site for all ages using textbook methods and other materials as provided.

    • Organize and supervise off-site after-school programs

    • Plan and oversee French summer camps

    • Create, organize and supervise field trips for school groups

    • Develop and implement curriculum

    • Draft course descriptions, answer questions on and register students for AF youth classes including the home-school program

    • Select textbooks and pedagogical resources instructors and Education Director for all levels of students ages 3 to 17

    • Administer placement tests and conduct interviews with students and parents.

    • Develop promotional materials for children’s programs with Communications Coordinator and Graphic Design intern

    • Communicate with students and teachers regarding class updates

    • Assist and promote cultural events for children, in coordination with the Cultural Programs Coordinator and Educational Ambassador

    • Attend staff meetings, open houses; represent the organization in the community

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Native French speaker or equivalent; bilingual English-French

    • Educational background in Français Langue Etrangère (Licence, Master, DUFLE, DAEFLE)

    • Prior experience as a French teacher, working with children and adults

    • Familiarity with American and French school systems desirable

    • Genuine enthusiasm for teaching and for the French language

    • DELF exam certification

    • Strong organizational and planning skills and attention to detail

    • Ability to develop a rapport with children, parents and co-workers

    • Computer proficiency (MS Word, Excel)

    • Prior AF experience preferred but not required

    • Unrestricted work authorization in the U.S. required

  • Job Title: French Instructor for children

    Type: Part-time, 3 - 10 hours per week (must be available weekday afternoons and Saturdays); Non-exempt

    Salary: Based on experience

    Duties and Responsibilities:

     Prepare and teach Alliance Française classes using methods and materials provided.

     Prepare and teach Alliance Française classes in schools off-site using tools provided and by creating activities.

     Work with AF students and families; suggest resources to assist in French language learning.

     Draft course descriptions and curriculum, answer questions on AF classes.

     Attend staff meetings and open houses as requested.

     Represent Alliance Française in the community.

     Be an informational resource to members and non-members about AF educational programs, attend AF events.

    Minimum Qualifications:

     Native French speaker or equivalent. (C1 level)

     Educational background in Français Langue Etrangère (Licence, DAEFLE, DUFLE, Master…) and/or Elementary Education

     Prior work experience as a French teacher.

     Prior work experience teaching children

     Authorized to live and work in the US.

     Genuine enthusiasm for teaching children and for the French language.

     Effective class management skills

    Qualified candidates will be asked to complete a background check prior to hire.

    Preferred Qualifications:

     Computer proficiency and experience with interactive whiteboard (Smart Board) preferred.

     Prior AF experience

     Familiarity with the CEFR language levels and DELF/DALF exams

     Current driver’s license
