Lydia Viscardi was drawn to these discarded trial documentation photographs of wrecked cars with the same fascination and queasiness an actual accident elicits. She uses the car crashes to embody catastrophe or any painful past or present adversity imbedded in the psyche. By obscuring but never fully obliterating the image with mixed media, carved lines and collage, the layered altered images represent how we tackle unbearable memories to make them tolerable and find resolution.

About an Artist:
Irena Orlov is a Los Angeles-based contemporary multidisciplinary visual artist whose work uses a combination of both traditional and new media. In a blending of traditional and new media, Irena Orlov developed special techniques which continue to give her art a unique look and aesthetic. While the majority of her works are done with mixed media, she also creates with acrylic, oil, pastel, watercolors and pencil.
Much of her art has been implemented in renowned hotels, wellness and corporate settings across the world.

Artist Biography: Born in New Orleans, Robert Benjamin Stiles (Benji) is a multidisciplinary artist and educator who lives and works in Houston. He holds a B.A. from the University of St. Thomas, with a major in Art History and a minor in Studio Arts, and is currently an MFA candidate at MICA (Maryland Institute College of Art). His work ranges from non-representational painting focusing on diverse mark-making and color theory to conceptual sculpture and assemblage using historical and found objects.
