2023 Performance Review process begins today

Campus Woodburn Hall

As previously announced, the 2023 performance review process for classified and non-classified staff and certain FE/AP employees begins today (March 1).

Aligned with the core values of WVU, the annual performance review process is designed to measure an employee’s capabilities, accomplishments, development and overall contributions to the University, as well as the critical role each employee plays in bringing our land-grant mission to life.

The 2023 performance review period will cover Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2023.

Later today, employees should receive a link via email from the performance management system to complete a pre-review. The pre-review is optional but strongly encouraged. Employees will have until March 15 to complete their pre-review.

The performance review timeline is as follows:

March 18 to April 1 — First-level supervisors will complete and submit the electronic review for their direct reports. Second-level supervisors should work with their leaders on their team rating plans.

April 3 to April 12 — Vice presidents and deans should review and approve all final ratings.

April 22 to May 8 — Supervisors will conduct employee review meetings to provide details on each employee’s performance review.

Note: As part of this year’s process, WVU Research Corp. employees will use the standard WVU Research Corp. performance management system for completing their reviews.

Additional performance review resources can be found online or through free Leadership and Organizational Development eLearning courses, which will be made available to people leaders at a later date.

Thank you in advance for participating in the 2023 performance review process.
