The city of Los Angeles re-instituted a mask order to fight a new COVID surge on Friday.

In West Virginia, Gov. Jim Justice isn't anticipating any immediate need to do that.

"We're not Los Angeles -- thank God,” he said. “Boy do I ever mean that. But on top of that, we've got to watch, don't we? But from the standpoint of bringing back the masks, again, I pray to God above that we never have to consider such a thing, ever again. But we've always got to watch.”

State COVID-19 Czar Dr. Clay Marsh said instead of waiting for conditions to lead to mandates, people should encourage the vulnerable to get vaccinated or follow the mask, distancing and handwashing protocols.
