Villanova's mission statement calls for a community of people “who seek to nurture a concern for the common good and who share an enthusiasm for the challenge of responsible and productive citizenship.”

The Villanova Student Government Association, Office of Student Involvement, and Office of Government Relations, along with campus colleagues, are excited to provide a campus coalition to promote voter education, voter registration, and voter mobilization.

Voter Registration

PA Voter Registration Deadlines

  • Voter Registration Deadline: April 8, 2024
  • Application for mail-in or absentee ballot must be received by the county election board: April 16, 2024

PA Primary Election: April 23, 2024
General Election: November 5, 2024

Any student who is a US citizen is encouraged to register and vote.

Villanova is separated into four districts that cover campus, depending on what residence hall you currently reside in. If you've registered to vote in Pennsylvania previously, you likely need to update your voter registration form with your new residence hall information. 

Registering to vote in Pennsylvania can be done online or through a mail-in registration form, which should be mailed to:

Important Reminders For Students Living On Campus and Registering to Vote 

  • On line 5 of the PA Voter Application enter 800 Lancaster Ave, Villanova Pa 19085, and include your residence hall name in the apartment line. 
  • On line 6 of the PA Voter Application please use one of the following addresses depending on where you receive mail on campus.

  • Please note that Villanova is located in Delaware County and is in Radnor Township.
  • To vote in this election, you must be a resident of Pennsylvania and the election district in which you want to register/vote for at least 30 days. Living on campus is sufficient to meet this requirement.

  • A new website for PA voters in Delaware County and voter hotline, 610-891-VOTE (8683), provides up-to-the-minute voting news and can answer your questions. This site also includes information on satellite voting centers and locations for drop-off boxes for mail-in ballots.
  • Many states have their own voter registration form, deadlines, and voting procedures. To vote in your home state, information can be found at www.vote.org.

Absentee and Early Voting

Don't forget to learn about absentee and early voting as alternatives to voting on Election Day. There are many helpful resources, including Vote.org for registering to vote outside of Pennsylvania.

 

 

Election Day

Polling locations will open in Pennsylvania on election day from 7 a.m.-8 p.m.

For first-time voters in Pennsylvania, you are required to bring identification. For a full list of acceptable IDs Visit the voting in Pennsylvania website. 

Acceptable forms of ID can include the following:

  • Pennsylvania driver’s license or PennDOT ID card

  • Identification issued by any Commonwealth agency

  • Identification issued by the U.S. Government

  • U.S. passport

  • U.S. Armed Forces identification

  • Student identification (Villanova Wildcard)

  • Employee identification

Visit vote.pa.gov to confirm your registration status and polling location.

All Villanova students, regardless of VU Box mailing address, should use the mailing address of 800 Lancaster Ave, Villanova Pa 19085. 

Students who live on campus will vote at the following locations based on their residence hall:

  • Alumni, Austin, Corr, Delurey, Fedigan, Moriarty, O'Dwyer, Sheehan, Simpson, St. Rita's, Sullivan vote at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 104 Louella Avenue, Wayne, PA 19087

  • Arch, Canon, Chapter, Cupola, Friar, Trinity, Katharine, St. Monica, Stanford vote at The Rosemont Plaza Apartments, 1062 Lancaster Avenue, Bryn Mawr, PA 19010

  • Farley, Gallen, Jackson, Klekotka, Moulden, Rudolph, St. Clare, St. Mary’s, and Welsh vote at Radnor Elementary School, 20 Matsonford Road, Wayne, PA 19087

  • Caughlin, Good Counsel, McGuire vote at the Ithan Elementary School, Bryn Mawr, PA 19010

The following offices on campus are offering support to students during the Election:

  • The Department of Public Safety is available 24/7 for emergencies and non-emergencies. Additionally, the Nova Safe app can be used to submit tips and request a security escort if needed.

 

 

Frequently Asked Questions

What do I do if...

If you’ve requested to vote by mail, you can bring your ballot and envelope with you and hand them over to poll workers to be voided. You may then vote in person via machine or paper ballot. Your ballot cannot already be filled out. If you don’t have your ballot with you, including if it didn’t arrive on time, you can still show up to the polls and vote on a provisional ballot, which is a paper ballot that is set aside and counted once it is clear you are eligible to vote.

Ask to speak to the Judge of Elections to confirm if you're registered to vote at that location. If your name is not on the list of registered voters at your local polling place, you have the right to cast a provisional ballot which will be counted after elections officials have confirmed you are a registered voter in that county.

You can ask your county elections office to send you a new ballot and void the old one. You can also still show up to the polls and vote on a provisional ballot.

 

Other common questions:

The Pennsylvania Department of State's ballot tracking website lets you check your ballot status online, including whether your application has been approved, the ballot has been mailed, and whether it’s been received/recorded once you send it back.

If you include your email address when applying to vote by mail, you should also get emails notifying you of changes to your ballot status. And you can always call your county office to check your status.

A naked ballot is a mail ballot that a voter submits without an inner secrecy envelope. Pennsylvania uses a two-envelope system: filled-out ballots go first inside a blank, anonymous secrecy envelope, and then into the return envelope that is addressed to the county elections office and has the voter’s signature and information.

If voters place the ballot directly into the return envelope, it is considered "naked.” A naked ballot will not be counted.

You can mail your ballot, or deliver it by hand by dropping it off at a county elections office. Additionally, Delaware County voters are free to use any ballot dropbox in the county. Visit www.delcopa.gov for more information.

You only need to show ID if this is your first time voting in that precinct, i.e. if you have moved to a new neighborhood or are newly registered. Otherwise, you won’t need a photo ID and shouldn’t be asked for it.
