United Way of King County is looking for volunteers who can commit to volunteering weekly for ten weeks driving and delivering school lunches in pairs to children living at Greenbridge. As a volunteer, you will report to Greenbridge once a week for ten weeks. There, you will pick up meals from your site address, drive the meals to families in the Greenbridge community, and work in pairs to deliver the meals to doorsteps through no-contact delivery. If you are uncomfortable being in a socially distant pair with a volunteer you do not know, we encourage you to sign up with a friend or family member. United Way of King County will provide PPE (gloves and masks) for all volunteers, provide on-site training and guidance while practicing social distancing at all times.
YMCA of Greater Seattle uses a third-party vendor, Sterling Volunteers, to process background checks for volunteers. Our background check is a nationwide 7-year criminal history check as well as a check of the National Sex Offender database. Criminal convictions such as DUI or Reckless Driving will not disqualify someone from volunteering. We are looking for sex offenders or those who have recent convictions that involve harm or threat of harm to an individual(s). A background check is required for this volunteer position and will be performed by YMCA of Greater Seattle
Volunteers are needed Monday-Friday, from 10:15-12:30. To best serve our community, volunteers will sign up for recurring shifts over a ten-week period. When you sign up to volunteer, you should pick one day and time you can reliably be available for every week throughout the ten-week period. For example, if you sign up for a Monday shift, you are committing to every Monday for the ten-week period. This window is the week of April 12th through the week of June 14th.
