Committed to Christ and the Program’s Mission

Totus Tuus missionaries are faith-filled college students and seminarians who are willing to give themselves to Christ and His Church for the summer by preaching the Gospel to children and teenagers. Totus Tuus missionaries commit to traveling in a four-person team, teaching, evangelizing and spreading the gospel throughout parishes for six weeks. Missionaries complete two weeks of training around the curriculum of the program and have a break during the week of the July 4 holiday. In addition, missionaries take part in a mid-summer and an end of summer spiritual retreat.

The following is the schedule for use during the week of Totus Tuus. We adhere to this rigorous schedule throughout the summer. It can be adapted to meet the needs of a particular parish, although that is not recommended. If you would like to make adjustments to the schedule to accommodate any special circumstances in your parish, please notify the Totus Tuus Coordinator as soon as possible.

My name is Moni and I was a Totus Tuus missionary in the summer of 2019. As a rising senior studying Theology and Catechetics at Franciscan University of Steubenville, teaching the faith is my plan for my career. My faith is my life and I have spent time understanding the most effective ways to pass it on to others. Totus Tuus was the perfect place for me to put my studies to use. This summer was my first time as a full-time missionary, and it was an astounding experience.

Totus Tuus offers a very unique experience. You’re moving around, changing parishes and meeting new people weekly. It can be a lot to take in, until you take a step back and realize that you have 4 people always with you, your 3 teammates and Christ. They are always right beside you, supporting you along the way. The bond you form with Our Lord and with your team carries you throughout the intense summer ahead of you. Totus Tuus gives you a radical way to serve God because you have the opportunity to teach children of all ages about the faith. You have the chance to spread the Gospel to those entering first through 12th grade and in those times when you feel overwhelmed, you witness these kids learning about God and it makes it all worth it.

You have the opportunity to have dinner with families in the program and so often the parents are moved by what their kids have been learning about at Totus Tuus especially about the Rosary and the Mass, and there can be this beautiful re-discovery of the faith within the family. It is those moments that fuel you to keep going throughout the summer and to keep loving the people in front of you.

The most important thing Totus Tuus teaches you is how to trust in God in a way you never have before.

Become a Missionary

Young adult missionaries must be practicing Catholics, confirmed and faithful to the teachings of the Magisterium. In addition, missionaries must be willing to live in a community of other team members, and be committed to a personal and communal prayer life, equipped to make sacrifices through a rigorous daily schedule and be prepared to have fun. The program provides housing, a $3,500 stipend and meals and lodging for all missionaries ($4,000 for returning missionary and/or driver of team!).
