Biography

BREAKDOWN:  Ethan Anderson is a tough 6-1, 210-pound junior guard who is a good ball distributor, driver and scorer.  

2020-21: Anderson played in 25 games, making 6 starts and averaging 5.7 points, 1.8 rebounds and 2.7 assists. He was third on the team with a 38.6 shooting percentage from three-point range (17-for-44).  Began the season as the starting point guard and key returning player, combining for 20 points and 9 assists in USC’s first two games.  He started but was limited to 9 minutes vs. BYU on Dec. 1 due to back spasms and missed the next eight games.  When he returned to action on Jan. 14 vs. Washington he came off the bench and scored 3 points.  He mostly continued to come off the bench the rest of the season.  He scored 11 points at California on Jan. 23, 8 coming in the second half of USC’s comeback win.  Posted a career-high 19 points and made a career-best 5 three-pointers to lead USC to a victory over then-No. 21 UCLA on Feb. 6.  He had a career-high 7 rebounds, 6 points and a season-best eight rebounds vs. Oregon on Feb. 22.  He scored 14 points and had four assists in USC’s NCAA Tournament run to the Elite Eight.  He scored 9 points on 4-for-5 shooting in USC’s 85-51 dismantling of Kansas in the second-round game on March 22.

2019-20: Anderson played in all 31 games and made 28 starts for USC, averaging 5.5 points, 2.8 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game. He finished with 131 assists which ranked third all-time among USC freshmen and tied for sixth nationally among freshmen in assists.  Anderson had 16 games with 4 or more assists and USC was 8-0 when he registered 6 or more assists.  He had 5 games without a turnover and scored in double figures eight times. Anderson made 37.8 percent of his three-point basket attmepts (14-for-37). He started and demonstrated in the opener vs. FAMU on Nov. 5 that he would be in charge of the point guard position moving forward, scoring 4 points, grabbing five rebounds and dishing out seven assists.  Anderson had 10 assists, 4 rebounds and 4 points off the bench vs. Portland on Nov. 8. He returned to the starting lineup at Nevada on Nov. 16 with 8 points and 8 assists and would serve as the starting point guard the rest of the way (except for Senior Night vs. UCLA on March 7).  He had 12 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists vs. Temple on Nov. 22.  Anderson had a season best 12 assists vs. Long Beach State on Dec. 15, tied for the second most in a game by a freshman during the 2019-20 season.  He scored all 11 of his points in the second half of the 70-68 comeback win vs. LSU on Dec. 21...he had 6 assists and made 2 key three-pointers.  He scored 12 of his career-best 14 points in the first half of the win at UCLA on Jan. 11.  He scored 11 points, had 4 assists and a key steal with 11 seconds remaining in the overtime win vs. Stanford on Jan. 18.  He scored 11 points, had 6 assists and matched a season best with 6 rebounds at Oregon State on Jan. 25.  He scored 12 points and was 2-for-2 from three-point range in the games at Arizona State on Feb. 8 and vs. Washington State on Feb. 15.  

HIGH SCHOOL: Anderson graduated from Fairfax HS in 2019, where he averaged 20.8 points, 6.2 rebounds and 6.3 assists as a senior.  He was named the L.A. City Section Player of the Year as he led Fairfax to the Open Division Championship.  He was also named to the L.A. Times All-Area team along with fellow Trojan freshmen Drake London and Onyeka Okongwu. He led Fairfax to a 27-2 record and a No. 5 ranking in the state of California.  He was ranked as the No. 4 point guard in California by 247Sports.

PERSONAL: Ethan was born on November 24, 1999 in Carson, Calif. His parents are Pamela and Kevin Anderson and he has one brother, Evan. Anderson is majoring in Business at USC.
