My Students

Our middle school is made up of about 1,500 students. Our student body is composed of a mix of races and socioeconomic backgrounds. We are only miles away from an Air Force base, so we have a large military population. Our school, teachers, and students work hard each day. The school has received many awards. I teach about 90 eighth-graders, including students in inclusion and special education. Each day, my students work so hard and always keep positive attitudes as they strive to grow.

My Project

I would like to give my students an area in our classroom to allow them to stand up and work on their math while having a standing desk in a specific area in our classroom when then need to get their wiggle out with all the extra energy of students in middle school. This area will be in our new wing with a class full of 8th grade students. They are in academic focused classes for the majority of their day before lunch and often times need to get up and move. This will give them a space to do so.
