Boxing Day in America is a national program of USA Boxing, held on the first Saturday of November in LBCs across the U.S.  Boxing Day is a public sparring event, designed to give boxers an opportunity to work with new training partners, demonstrate skills in front of friends and family, and give the public an opportunity to learn about grassroots boxing in a festival-like atmosphere.

TESTIMONIALS

Larry Bright
President, Southeastern LBC

"It was an awesome event. The feedback was 100% positive and everyone enjoyed themselves. Boxers could experience multiple fight styles, and the event fostered an environment that enhanced the overall camaraderie within the LBC!"

Diana Cromeans
President, Gulf LBC

"It was a really good registration drive for us. When we have a show we're always rushing around. With the Sparring Expo we had time to answer questions. We gave out a lot of information. We had good sparring, and it was good practice for our officials."

Ernest Rodriguez
Coach

"Boxing Day is exactly what we need.  As a coach I can take all my boxers to one event, and know they'll all get work."

Michael Cantrell, M.D.
Ringside Doctor & Master's Boxer

"Boxing Day is a training and improvement opportunity for boxers, coaches, officials, and ringside physicians. The event also promotes a spirit of cooperation and fellowship among boxing clubs. It's a day of great fun!"

Sena Agbeko
Coach

"As a coach, Boxing Day gave me a pretty good idea of how my boxer would fare under pressure in an actual boxing match because we got work in front of an audience without the worry of the official result.  My boxer's also hard to match, so this was great for us."

Shawn Reese
R&J Commission Chair, USA Boxing

"As a R & J instructor, It was great to be able to critique in real time and see the improvement in Referees from round to round. Critiquing between rounds with sparring allows a Referee to change bad habits and start the process of correct movement and mechanics being fresh on their minds.

Live sparring is the greatest tool Judges can utilize to become better.  Judging rounds in this setting allows for discussion between the Judges and a knowledgeable instructor that produces cohesion in the group. Judges correctly and effectively learn how to utilize the scoring criteria to give better-educated decisions."

Eddy Collins
Boxer

"It was very helpful.  I was able to critique myself immediately afterward due to the fact that I could spar people I was unfamiliar with."

Dan McGrew
Chief of Officials, Southeastern LBC

"Boxing Day gives referees and judges a chance to learn something new and fine tune their skills. I highly recommend it for new and experienced officials."

Robyn Jumawan
Reg. Chair & Chief of Officials, Hawaii

"The Day was a HUGE success on every level.  From getting new officials in the ring to giving athletes the ability to showcase their skills in front of people without the normal pressure of "winning," to promoting camaraderie between clubs and athletes while gaining new members and exposing the local community to all that amateur boxing has to offer - it was a wonderful day!  Everyone loved it and cannot wait to do it again!"
