Kentucky is stronger than stigma

Kentuckians have the power to end the stigma associated with opioid use disorder (OUD) and reverse the addiction crisis.

Our Mission

UNSHAME Kentucky is a statewide campaign to destigmatize opioid use disorder (OUD) by providing education on OUD-related topics and sharing the stories of people whose lives have been affected by opioid use disorder and those who serve those communities. By learning their stories, we come to understand that opioid use disorder is something that can affect any of us and that no one should struggle with it alone.

How to Get Involved

Share Your Story

Sharing how you have been impacted by OUD is one of the most effective ways to humanize the disease of addiction and reduce stigma. When you share your story, you show that addiction is not a result of bad character - it's a treatable, chronic disease that can affect anyone, but it's possible to recover with the proper support.

Champion the Movement

UNSHAME Kentucky is a movement of Kentuckians who care. Encourage your organization to become a campaign partner committed to changing the narrative surrounding opioid use disorder and sharing resources and messages of hope with Kentuckians. Together, we can make sure that people have the resources and support they need on their recovery journey.

Join the Conversation

Attend one of our monthly webinars to learn from experts and community members about how addiction stigma holds Kentucky back and what we can do to end it. You can also join our Community Website to connect with other advocates, share resources, and discover additional opportunities to end stigma in your community.
