  • After helping the Boston Celtics reach the Eastern Conference Finals for the second straight season, Williams signed a four-year contract with the Dallas Mavericks in July of 2023.
  • Was a key member of Boston's rotation during the Celtics' run to the 2022 NBA Finals, averaging 8.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and shooting .393 from 3-point range in 24 2022 playoff appearances.
  • Started 21 of the 77 games in which he appeared during the 2021-22 regular season with Boston, averaging a career-best 7.8 points per game.
  • On Aug. 7, 2021, Williams was elected to serve as a vice president on the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) Executive Committee.

  • His 43 points at Vanderbilt (1/23/19) were the most by a Vol since all-time leading scorer Allan Houston also dropped 43 against LSU on Feb. 10, 1990. Williams' effort also tied for the fifth-most points in a single game in school history.
  • Became the ninth Vol to ever to be the SEC's scoring champion after averaging 18.8 points per game; 11th time overall a Tennessee player was the league's scoring champ (Bernard King and Tony White each did it twice)
  • His 696 points during his junior year ranked sixth all time in school history for a single season and marked the most points by a Vol since Allan Houston's 717 in 1991-92; his 55 blocks were tied for sixth in a season in program history.

  • Crucial in UT's win against the Alabama (1/19/19), recording his eighth 20-point game of the season with 21 points; no sequence in the game was bigger than when he sprinted to the corner for a key block on a wide-open 3-pointer by John Petty followed by a key offensive rebound on the other end that he laid up and in to give the Vols a 69-66 advantage with 46 seconds left and seal the victory.
  • Sank all 14 of his free-throw attempts to beat Arkansas (1/15/19); finished with 18 points, seven rebounds, four assists and a block.
  • Filled the box score with 20 points, nine rebounds, four assists, two blocks and two steals in the win at Florida (1/12/19).

  • Posted his eighth career double-double and third of the season vs. No. 1 Gonzaga (12/9/18), finishing with 16 points, 12 rebounds and career-high seven assists in the thrilling win.

  • Named to NIT Season Tip-Off All-Tournament Team after averaging 21.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.0 blocks per games vs. Kansas and Louisville.
  • Scored at least 20 points in three consecutive games for the first time in his career against Louisiana (31), Georgia Tech (22) and Louisville (24).
  • Finished with 18 points, eight rebounds, a career-high-tying six assists and two steals vs. Kansas (11/23/18) in the NIT Season Tip-Off.
  • Became the 49th Vol all-time to eclipse the 1,000-point margin in his career in UT's win against Louisville (11/21/18); he finished with 24 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three blocks.
  • Dropped 22 points, eight rebounds and three assists in Tennessee's win vs. Georgia Tech (11/13/18); it marked the second time in his career he posted at least 20 points in back-to-back games (last vs. Purdue and Villanova on Nov. 22-23, 2017).
  • The victory over Louisiana (11/9/18) marked his sixth career double-double, as he finished with 31 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and two steals in 34 highly productive minutes.

SUMMER 2018

  • Took part in a 10-day cultural exchange and service trip to Ecuador that capped off a year-long curriculum with UT’s select VOLeaders Academy.

2017-18 - SOPHOMORE

  • Through two seasons with the Vols, he is only 67 points (933) shy of becoming the 49th Volunteer to join the 1,000-Point Club and currently ranks just outside the top 10 on UT's all-time career lists for offensive rebounds (14th with 175) and blocks (15th with 105).
  • 2018 SEC Player of the Year led the Vols in scoring (15.2 ppg), was second in blocks (44) and rebounding (6.0 rpg) and finished fourth in assists (66).
  • First-Team All-SEC honoree scored at least 10 points in 29 of UT’s 35 games while leading the Vols in scoring in 12 contests and eclipsing the 20-point margin eight times.
  • Ranked ninth in the SEC in scoring (16.1 ppg) and ninth in shooting percentage (.463) during league play despite being regularly double-teamed; scored 20-plus in five SEC contests.
  • Joined Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer Bernard King as the only Vols ever to earn SEC Play of the Year distinction as underclassmen.
  • Will enter his junior season having started each of UT’s last 64 games—the longest active streak on the team.
  • Recorded 14 points, nine rebounds and a steal in UT's first-round win over Wright State (3/15/18) in the NCAA Tournament.
  • Averaged 12.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.0 steal during Tennessee's three-game SEC Tournament run, highlighted by his first double-double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds in the quarterfinal win over Mississippi State (3/9/18).
  • Chipped in 15 points, nine boards, three assists and a season-high three steals in the SEC Tournament championship game vs. Kentucky (3/11/18).
  • Finished with 12 points, five boards, four assists and a block in all-around performance against Arkansas (3/10/18) in the semifinals of the SEC Tournament.
  • The first-team All-SEC selection scored 22 points in the comeback win vs. Georgia (3/3/18) to clinch a share of the SEC regular-season championship for the Vols.
  • Recorded eight points, seven boards, four assists, a block and a steal in UT's win at Mississippi State (2/27/18).
  • Posted 23 points on 8-of-13 shooting and added six rebounds vs. Florida (2/21/18); he scored 11 of UT’s final 18 points in the win.
  • Hit a challenged layup with 11 seconds left to give Tennessee a three-point lead vs. South Carolina (2/13/18); he finished with a game-high 22 points on 7-of-10 shooting, with five rebounds and two blocks.
  • Earned his first SEC Player of the Week award on Jan. 15 after averaging 23.0 points and 6.0 rebounds while leading the Vols to a pair of wins over Vanderbilt and Texas A&M.
  • Powered the Vols to a road win at Vanderbilt (1/9/18) behind a career-high 37 points on 12-of-20 shooting from the floor, marking the most points by a Vol since SEC Player of the Year Ron Slay scored 38 vs. New Mexico on Jan. 4, 2003.
  • Totaled 18 points, eight boards and four assists to help the Vols come from behind to beat #17 Kentucky (1/6/18).
  • Posted 22 points to go along with eight rebounds vs. Auburn (1/2/18).
  • Had 14 points, eight rebounds and three assists to help the Vols post a comeback win vs. Furman (12/20/17).

  • Dropped 22 points and eight boards in UT’s victory vs. #18 Purdue (11/22/17), including eight points and three rebounds in overtime. 
  • Grabbed 12 rebounds in win vs. High Point (11/14/17) to go along with eight points, two assists, two blocks and two steals. 
  • Logged 14 points and seven rebounds in the season-opening win over Presbyterian (11/10/17) 

SUMMER 2017

  • Averaged a team-best 9.3 rebounds during Tennessee's three-game European exhibition tour.
  • Had a dominant performance in UT's 84-79 win over the Paris All-Stars (8/10/17), finishing with 19 points and 10 rebounds.

2016-17 - FRESHMAN

  • Game-By-Game Statistics
  • SEC All-Freshman Team performer appeared in all 32 games, earning 29 starts.
  • His 402 total points rank sixth all-time among Tennessee freshmen, trailing Bernard King (661), Allan Houston (609), Tobias Harris (521), Ernie Grunfeld (453) and Chris Lofton (410).
  • Was a part of the highest-scoring freshman class in program history (1,140 points).
  • Finished the year as Tennessee's second-leading scorer (12.6 ppg) while pacing the squad in rebounds (5.9 rpg) and blocked shots (1.9 bpg)
  • His 61 blocked shots on the year shattered Tennessee's previous freshman record of 39 (C.J. Black, 1996-97) and ranked as the second-most ever recorded in a single season by a Vol; his 1.9 bpg average ranked third all-time for a single season and easily bested the previous freshman record of 1.41 (C.J. Black, 1996-97).
  • Finished the year ranked 18th in the SEC in rebounding (5.9 rpg) and fifth in blocked shots (1.9 bpg, second among freshmen).
  • His 94 offensive rebounds were the most ever by a Tennessee freshman and tied for the sixth-most by a Vol in a single season.
  • Led the Vols in scoring nine times, tallying 20 games in double figures and two 30-point outings. His pair of 30-point performances made him just the third Vol in history to record multiple 30-point games as a freshman (Bernard King, Allan Houston).
  • Posted a team-high four double-doubles on the year, three of which came over the Vols' final five games.
  • Emerged as the Vols' top performer in SEC play, averaging a team-high 14.2 points and 6.4 rebounds per game.
  • Tied for the team lead with eight drawn charges on the year.
  • Scored six points on just one field-goal attempt in the SEC Tournament against Georgia (3/9/17). Was limited to just 23 minutes due to early foul trouble.
  • With a game-high 16 points and 10 rebounds against Alabama (3/4/17), recorded his second straight double-double and his third in four games. Also tallied three blocked shots vs. the Crimson Tide.
  • Posted his third double-double of the season at LSU (3/1/17), finishing with 16 points and a season-best 14 rebounds. Also notched four blocks against the Tigers.
  • Came up just shy of the double-double at South Carolina (2/25/17), finishing with eight points and eight rebounds. Also swiped a season-high four steals.
  • Recorded his second career double-double against Vanderbilt (2/22/17), finishing with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
  • Led the Vols to a 90-70 win over Missouri (2/18/17), scoring 25 points and adding five rebounds. Set a season-high at the charity stripe, going 12-of-13 on free throws.

  • Stuffed the stat sheet in Tennessee's upset victory against No. 4 Kentucky (1/24/17): 13 points, six rebounds, a season-best six assists, four blocks and a season-high three steals.
  • Dropped home a contested jump hook with only 14 seconds remaining against the Wildcats, pushing the Vols' slim lead to five.
  • Scored all 17 of his points in the second half of a home victory over Mississippi State (1/21/17). Went 6-of-11 from the floor and 1-of-1 from three in the second frame.
  • Came up one rebound shy of a double-double in a win at Vanderbilt (1/14/17), scoring 12 points and grabbing a game-high nine rebounds. Also had three blocks.
  • Scored a team-high 15 points to go along with six rebounds (five offensive) and three blocks against South Carolina (1/11/17).
  • Recorded his first career double-double against Arkansas (1/3/17), grabbing 11 rebounds to go along with 15 points on just 3-of-5 shooting (9-of-14 at the line).
  • Had 12 points, five rebounds and a single-game, school-record-tying six blocks while powering Tennessee to an SEC-opening win at Texas A&M (12/29/16); his defensive effort was key in neutralizing the much larger Aggies' frontcourt.
  • Strong defensive performance in a win at ETSU (12/22/16), matching his career-high with four blocked shots while also pulling down a game-high nine rebounds (seven defensive).
  • Played just 15 minutes vs. No. 8 Gonzaga (12/18/16) due to foul trouble, but scored 11 points and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds (six offensive).
  • Became the first UT freshman since Chris Lofton in 2005 to score 30 points in a game when he finished with 30 points on 10-of-12 shooting (including 10-of-13 at the line) in a win over Lipscomb (12/15/16).
  • Turned in a nice outing in a homecoming game at No. 7 North Carolina (12/11/16), finishing with eight points, a team-high six rebounds, and a season-best four blocks.
  • Scored eight points and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds in Tennessee's 90-50 win over Presbyterian (12/6/16).
  • Poured in 14 points and grabbed six rebounds in just 20 minutes of action against Georgia Tech (12/3/16).
  • Started and scored 10 points in the Maui Invitational finale against Chaminade (11/23/16); did a little bit of everything in the win, recording four rebounds, three blocks, two assists and two steals.
  • Made his first career start at the Maui Invitational against No. 16 Wisconsin (11/21/16).
  • Recorded 13 points, two assists, two blocks and a steal in the home win over Appalachian State (11/15/16).
  • Had an impressive showing in his collegiate debut, logging eight points, two blocks and a team-high 10 rebounds in the season-opener vs. Chattanooga (11/11/16); prior to that game, the last Vol freshman to record 10 or more rebounds in his Tennessee debut was C.J. Black vs. Morehead State (11/24/96).

HIGH SCHOOL

  • Graduated from Providence Day School in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he was coached by Brian Field.
  • Capped his prep career by guiding Providence Day to the eight-team DICK'S Sporting Goods High School National Tournament in New York City.
  • Providence Day fell to No. 2-ranked Montverde (Fla.) Academy in the opening round of the national tournament on March 31, 2016, but Williams led the Chargers with 12 points and eight rebounds in what was the final game of his prep career.
  • Providence Day earned a final USA TODAY Sports Super 25 Expert Ranking of No. 16.
  • Powered Providence Day to the 2016 North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association 3A state championship; the Chargers finished the season with a 30-4 record (a school record for victories) and won 20 straight games before their season-ending loss at the national tournament.
  • As a senior, he led Providence Day to four wins over teams that were ranked in the USA TODAY national top-25 poll at some point in the season.
  • As a senior in 2015-16, Williams averaged 15.8 points, 10.1 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 3.0 blocks and 0.5 steals per game en route to Associated Press All-State honors.
  • Is one of only four players ever to be named The Charlotte Observer's Player of the Year in back-to-back years (2015 and 2016), joining Queen City greats Ian Miller, Anthony Morrow and Jason Parker.

  • In the Hoodies House semifinals, Providence Day rallied to erase a 13-point deficit--and Williams delivered the game-winning basket--as the Chargers upset defending Georgia Class 6A champion Wheeler High School (ranked No. 21 by USA TODAY); Williams finished with 13 points, five rebounds and two assists in the 62-60 win.
  • Fellow Providence Day seniors Josh Howard (Brown) and Isaac Johnson (Appalachian State) also signed Division I basketball scholarships.
  • Williams--who played his AAU basketball with the CP3 All-Stars, coached by John Adams and Art Wade--entered his senior campaign having already scored more than 1,100 career points.
  • As a junior in 2014-15, Williams averaged 18 points, 9.6 rebounds, 2.3 blocks and 2.7 assists per game. The Chargers posted a 25-5 record and reached the 2015 NCISAA semifinals while playing one of the toughest schedules in the Charlotte area.
