Collection Overview

Biography / History
Jennie Morton, born 1838 in Franklin County, Kentucky, was regent and secretary treasurer of the Kentucky State Historical Society. She was an active member of the society as well as a poet. She died in 1920 of heart disease. Alice Orbison was born 1876 in Frankfort, Kentucky, and died 1959.

The Jennie C. Morton and Alice Orbison Frankfort, Kentucky album (circa 1890s, 0.04 cubic feet, 1 box) is a late-nineteenth century scrapbook containing a collection of poems about Frankfort, Kentucky, written by Jennie C. Morton. Each poem is paired with an image of Frankfort scenes taken by Alice Orbison. The poems are type written on paper bound together with yarn.
