Streamlining Digital Signage

In today’s fast-paced world, the education sector is continually evolving to meet the demands of the digital age. One significant advancement is the adoption of simplified, low-cost, cloud-based digital signage platforms. These platforms are revolutionizing how institutions communicate, engage with the community, and respond to emergencies. Partnering with UIT-Academic Technologies, the Department of Public Safety, Honors College, College of Liberal Arts, College of Health, and College of Science have embraced this digital transformation opportunity, and recently deployed, or converted over 20 display systems based on this new platform.

Turnitin AI Detection Disabled

In April 2023, Turnitin enabled a new feature in their Feedback Studio originality checking platform. After several months of using and testing the feature, in consultation with the Center for Teaching and Learning and Ecampus, UIT Academic Technologies disabled AI detection from our Turnitin instance on September 13, 2023. No other Turnitin Feedback Studio features were changed.

Microsoft Teams in Canvas

Microsoft Teams with Canvas was added to the OSU instance of Canvas this September. This tool allows instructional faculty and staff to enable a Team in a Canvas course site and use the Chat and Channel features. This integration synchs the class roster with the Team to ensure that only actively enrolled students and instructional faculty and staff can access the course Team.

Let’s zoom back to mid-March when we were asking: what does remote learning look like for students, for faculty, and how can we help users navigate the virtual classroom? The LInC building, Academic Technology’s campus home began to sit quietly, classrooms eerily empty. While in non-campus homes faculty and staff worked from makeshift garage offices or wooden kitchen tables, preparing for spring term via remote learning.
