In the mid-1970s, Carolyn Wilcox Kemmeries was part of a core group of educators who conceived of, and then established what would later become University High School (UHS). She continued her commitment to the school by becoming the Principal starting in the 1986-87 school year. During her time at UHS, Mrs. Kemmeries had a lasting impact on the lives of countless students, teachers, administrators and parents. Her passion for education, and making sure that all students had the opportunity to excel, was always evident.

Her immense contributions to the success of University High School were commemorated with her induction into the first class of the UHS Hall of Fame in 2016. In addition, each year since 1991, the Carolyn Kemmeries Award has been given to a UHS senior who has made a unique and lasting contribution to the school.

To further honor her legacy as a founder and lifelong supporter of University High School, the UHS Foundation and Alumni Association (UHSFAA) is honored to create the Carolyn Kemmeries Memorial Fund to support the students of UHS, particularly those from underserved communities. Thank you for your consideration in support of the memory of Mrs. Kemmeries, her advocacy for education, and her passion to impact all students.
