Hunger Education Week helps increase awareness about the realities of hunger. This year, from April 15th to the 20th, the Food Bank Network of the San Luis Valley hosted several informative events to educate people on the effects of hunger and ways to help fight it.

Fill The Van was a donation fundraiser where members of the community could donate canned and nonperishable food items. In a single day, we collected 1,200 lbs of shelf-stable food items! The collected food was distributed to our 14 food pantries that serve over 10,000 individuals a year. Thank you to the community for their generous donations.

Events like Hunger Education Week allow for education, reflection, and community bonding. Thank you to everyone who attended any of the Hunger Education Week events. See you at next year’s. For more information on the Food Bank Network of San Luis Valley, visit lapuentehome.org/food-bank/ or call (719) 589-4567
