“When the last tree is cut, the last fish is caught, and the last river is polluted; when to breathe the air is sickening, you will realize, too late, that wealth is not in bank accounts and that you can’t eat money.” ― Alanis Obomsawin
The state of affairs of environmental justice in Colorado varies greatly from community to community due to types of energy used, susceptibility to extreme weather events such as drought or wildfires, and vulnerability of populations to pollution-induced health risks. The severity of such factors should inform both public policy and community action. To learn more about your community and how it is affected by environmental and health hazards, please visit the Colorado EnviroScreen, a very useful tool developed by a team at Colorado State University.
