Honors Convocation Celebrates Students, Faculty, Staff

Colorado College's Honors Convocation, an annual academic tradition, recognizes outstanding students across all departments and in all aspects of campus life.

This year's event, held Tuesday, May 10, in Celeste Theatre, honored students, faculty, and staff with departmental awards, all-college awards, and awards from the Colorado College Student Government Association.

Among the all-college awards presented were the Outstanding Student Leader Award, presented to Karla Nelly Iruegas; the Emerging Student Leader Award, presented to Emma Logan; the Blue Key Award, presented to Professor Amy L. Kohout; and the Bill Hochman Prize, presented to Isaac Yee.

The Colorado College Student Government Association also presented a series of awards, with Mary Duggan receiving the CCSGA Involved Student of the Year Award; Andres N. Madrigal receiving the Involved Student Organization of the Year Award on behalf of the Native American Student Union (NASU); Gretchen Wardell receiving the Bob Pizzi Outstanding Advisor of the Year Memorial Award, and Professor Nadia Guessous receiving the Lloyd E. Worner Teacher of the Year Award.

President L. Song Richardson also presented several awards to students, including the Ann Rice Memorial Award to Misbah Lakhani, the Van Diest Award to Michael Cole Thumann, and the Laura Golden Award to Megan Marie Koch.

President Richardson also recognized Colorado College students receiving the Crown-Goodman Presidential Scholarship.
