Stockton Downs Eastern 20-13

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (6-2) used a big first half and defeated Eastern University (3-5) 20-13 on Wednesday evening. Luc Swedlund (Randolph/Randolph) led all players with six goals on the night for Stockton.
 
Dante Poli (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks South) opened the scoring 1:05 into the contest for a 1-0 lead. After the Eagles knotted the game at 1-1, the Ospreys ripped off five straight markers on a pair by Swedlund and one each by Poli, Colin Hopkins (Springfield, PA/Springfield-Delco) and Reegan Capozzoli (Wayne/Wayne Valley) to make it 6-1.
 
Eastern tallied another goal, before Ethan Fought (Bridgewater/Bridgewater-Raritan) and Stanley Kolimago (Lansdale/Methacton) gave the home team an 8-2 margin after one quarter. Stockton added six more tallies, two by Swedlund, to three for Eastern to take a commanding 14-5 advantage into the break.
 
Eastern started to gain momentum in the third period, outscoring Stockton 5-3 to cut into the margin at 17-10. The teams played to a 3-3 draw in the final 15 minutes as Stockton came away with the 20-13 victory.
 
Poli added four goals and two assists for a six-point game, with Capozzoli and Hopkins scoring twice each. Tyler Horvath (Chalfont, PA/Central Bucks South) won 18-36 (.500) face-offs, scored a goal and dished two assists, while scooping a game-high 13 ground balls.  
 
Goalkeeper Colin Bernstein (Warrington, PA/Central Bucks South) made 11 saves in the win.
 
For Eastern, Gavin Stark scored three times with Patrick McClain, Nicholas Fanelli and Jason Poole adding two markers each. Fanelli and his brother Christopher Fanelli dished two assists each, with McClain winning 16-28 (.571) face-offs and scooping 10 ground balls.
 
Starting goalkeeper Ethan Myers kicked out 18 shots in 58:21 of play, with Connor Evans finishing up without having to make a save.
 
Stockton will travel to Dallas, PA to face Misericordia on Saturday afternoon for their next match-up. Game time is set for 4 pm.
