Colorado College wants you to be at your best and recognizes the importance of maintaining the health and well-being of our employees and their families. The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) with Guidance Resources provides free, confidential, short-term counseling, referral, and follow-up services at no cost to you. An EAP is a work-sponsored program designed to assist in the identification and resolution of problems associated with your personal and/or professional issues. You and your immediate family members are eligible for six counseling sessions per issue per year. All services, and even the fact that you have contacted EAP, are confidential and individual information is not shared with Colorado College.

You are eligible for one initial 30-minute office or telephone consultation per legal matter at no cost. In the event you wish to retain a participating attorney after the initial consultation, you will receive a preferred rate reduction of 25 percent off the attorney's normal hourly rate. You also have unlimited access to the Guidance Resources website which provides information on legal and financial topics as well as free use of legal forms.

You are also entitled to no cost telephone consultation with a participating financial counselor or CPA, generally limited to 30 – 60 minutes per issue. Additional time is billed at a discounted rate of 25 percent off the provider's normal fees. In addition to the telephone consultation, you have access to the financial library, financial tools, budgeting assistance, and credit counseling assistance.

Guidance Resources can help you understand the underlying emotion associated with unhealthy behaviors like smoking and unhealthy diet to help you  modify target behaviors, and follow through for long term success.

Some of the issues that your EAP may help you with include:

  • Family problems
  • Stress and emotional disorders
  • Relationship issues
  • Financial stress
  • Referrals to community resources
  • Work life balance issues
  • Legal and financial resources

When you call your EAP Member Services, you will be directed to a counselor who will help clarify your issue, identify options, offer support and professional guidance, and help you develop an action plan.

All calls are 100% confidential. Information will not be shared with your employer or your family.

Colorado College pays for this benefit 100% - there is no cost to you.
