Student Care Network offers virtual, telehealth services to support students

Remote study students may experience additional challenges due to virtual learning away from campus. The Student Care Network seeks to ensure that students have access to well-being resources, regardless of their location. There are a variety of online wellness and academic support resources for students studying off campus, out of state and abroad. Students studying on campus also can take advantage of many of these resources.

OSCC Guide to Off-Campus Referrals

We encourage students to explore the Office of Student Care Coordination’s “Guide to Off-Campus Referrals” if they are interested in finding an off-campus medical provider. Student Care Coordinators are also available to help students determine if off-campus providers or on-campus resources are the best option for their needs. Students can complete an Intake Form and schedule a time to meet with a Care Coordinator for additional support.

The Shrink Space

Vanderbilt has partnered with The Shrink Space–a therapy database that can help students find providers off-campus in Nashville and across the country.  Students can create a free account with their Vanderbilt email address and search providers in Nashville or another state. Students can use filters to search by insurance provider, gender identity, sexual orientation, race/ethnicity, religion, language, and several other factors to find their best match. Students can even reach out to providers directly through the HIPAA-compliant Shrink Space website.

My SSP

My Student Support Program (My SSP) is a free, 24/7 confidential support program for Vanderbilt students living outside of the state of Tennessee or abroad. My SSP provides free access to confidential counseling services, as well as a variety of wellbeing resources, including articles, assessments, and virtual fitness sessions. Real-time support is available by phone and live chat (no appointment needed!), and students may also schedule video appointments. My SSP counselors are available who speak Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, French, and English. For other language preferences, students may request an appointment with a counselor who speaks their preferred language depending on availability. Remote study students living outside of the state of TN or abroad can connect with MySSP by downloading the “My SSP” app from their device’s app store, calling 1-866-743-7732 (US calls) or 001-416-380-6579 (international calls) or by visiting us.myissp.com.

International calling charges will apply unless you either call via Wi-Fi, or opt to “call collect” by finding the collect call service for the country in which you are located and request to make a collect call to 001-416-380-6579. My SSP will accept the collect call charges. View a video that explains more about what the App has to offer.

Center for Student Wellbeing (CSW) Online Resources

The Center for Student Wellbeing has developed an Online Learning Space for students to access a series of academic, time management and ADHD-related modules. Students can use the modules to evaluate skills, reflect on changes they may want to make, set goals for those changes, and access support along the way.

The modules are self-paced and self-evaluated; students are encouraged to be honest and thoughtful as they go. After each module, students have the opportunity to request follow-up from the CSW. Each module can be completed effectively in 15 minutes, though the time may vary.

To access the CSW Online Learning Space:

  • Log into your Vanderbilt Brightspace account
  • Click on Self Registration and enroll yourself in the Center for Student Wellbeing course
  • Find all modules on the left side of the screen
  • Navigate through modules at your own pace
