Hi, I’m Janiah and I’m a 18 year old entrepreneur. I was tired of seeing negative stereotypes of African Americans portrayed in the media. What was sad was that some African Americans started believing them.
I believe part of the problem is that many people don’t know much about Black History. We are not taught enough about it in school and elsewhere. I wanted to help teens like me and others to learn about Black History and to appreciate the beauty of it.
I launched my apparel business when I was 15 to help people wear strong, positive messages about being black. I’ve also been sharing messages on social media teaching about historical figures and events in Black History.
Since then I’ve had opportunities to share my story on different media platforms.
