Computational Infratructure for Volcanology

Community discussion workshop

5 February 2021, 11am–3pm Eastern

The goal of this workshop is to gage the views of the volcanology modeling community about the future development of new computational infrastructure for the benefit of the community. This workshop is in coordination with parallel initiatives such as the Modelling Collaboratory (SZ4D MCS) and CONVERSE. We will discuss community needs and wishes for such infrastructure and facility and learn from the experience of an existing volcanology facility (VHUB) as well as similar and related efforts (CSDMS, CIG, and the USGS). We will have breakout rooms to discuss topics such as platforms, required capabilities, governance structure, and training.
