Project 4 Supply List

For the main experiment - constructing an electromagnet:

  • a C or D cell battery

  • 3-inch bolt or nail

  • Rubber band

  • Insulated copper wire you may have at home, or magnet wire (amazon!)

  • Paperclips

Optional Supplies

  • Small round magnets-flat on each side, about the same size as a AAA battery

  • AA battery

  • Narrow plastic tube - like irrigation pipe that the battery can fit through (Warming: I thought of just using a roll of paper that the kids could make, but there is a very real risk of fire as the wires can get very hot)

Project 6 Supply List

Simple version:

  • Empty water bottle

  • Spray Nozzle and tube from Spray bottle

  • Hot Glue Gun

High powered Version:

  • Empty 2 liter bottle or larger

  • 1/4 High pressure tubing

  • 1/4 inch On/Off straight valve (optional)

  • Garden hose nozzle

  • Compression sleeve

  • Adapter that screws into hose nozzle (most likely 3/4x1-1/2)

  • Hose swivel adapter (most likely 3/4 in x 1/4 in)

Electric Version:

  • Empty 2 liter bottle

  • Small water pump with wires

  • 9V battery

  • Push contact switch

  • Tubing

  • Hot glue gun

  • Tape

  • Ball point pen
