Seneca valley high school: a wall to wall IB world school

All SVHS students experience an IB education through the three IB programmes: Middle Years Program (MYP), Diploma Program (DP), and Career-related Program (CP). An IB education focuses on the development of deep content understanding combined with focused skill development.

The Middle Years Programme

At Seneca Valley High School, all students enrolled in 9th and 10th grade are automatically a part of the MYP: there is no application required! As participants in the program, our students take classes that are created with the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program framework in mind, which provides a focus on interdisciplinary learning, rigorous academic standards, skills-based instruction, and connections with the international community. As a result, all students will find that they have been adequately prepared for the challenge and expectations of our school’s IB Diploma Programme, IB Career-related Programme, or individual IB courses in their 11th and 12th-grade years.

The career-related Programme

The International Baccalaureate Career-related Program is a highly rigorous, college and career preparatory high school curriculum, which combines academic rigor with career-related studies. Students are awarded an IB CP Certificate after two years of study, completion of all course assessments, satisfactory performance on the May IB exams, and successful completion of the Language Development, Service Learning, Reflective Project, and a Program of Career-related Studies. Students will also likely be given special consideration in the university admissions process. In addition to the robust college and career skill set, college credit, course exemptions, or advanced standing may be granted based on students' assessment scores.

The diploma Programme

The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme is a highly rigorous, college preparatory high school curriculum. Students are awarded an IB Diploma after two years of study, completion of all course assessments, satisfactory performance on the May IB exams, and successful completion of Theory of Knowledge (TOK), Creativity, Activity , Service (CAS), and the Extended Essay (EE). This IB Diploma is nationally and internationally recognized. In addition to extensive college skill set, including research, writing, and critical thinking skill, students will be given special consideration in the university admissions process. This may include college credit, course exemptions, or advanced standing based on students' assessment scores.
