Everything you need to know about Summer Reading @CabinJohnMS

The Basics

1) We want you to READ!

When you start school next fall at CJMS, you should be ready to share and discuss a "new to you" book that you read over the summer.

Don't just re-read something. Try something new!

2) Every time you read, WRITE A REFLECTION!

To help you, we have included a "Choice Board" of reflection questions (see below), or you can develop one of your own. Decide where you will write your reflections: a reader's journal, a Google doc, a blog, etc. Just be sure you know where it is when school starts. This shouldn't be a problem, because of the next item in the basics...

3) Read ALL SUMMER LONG!

Set a personal goal at the start of the summer. How many books can you read in 10 weeks? How many different genres can you sample? In how many different reading activities can you participate?

Write these goals down where you are going to keep your Summer Reading Reflections. Periodically revisit your goals. Are you on track? Do you need to revise (either up or down) your goals? Challenge yourself!
