Secondary Science Fair Information

Welcome Advisors, Mentors, Teachers, Parents, and Students!

The purpose of this website is to provide information regarding the annual science fair by level: local, regional, state, and international. Each year the University of Georgia hosts a state fair for students in grades 6-12. This year the regional science fair will be held at Georgia Highlands College, Cartersville Campus on February 9, 2024. The Georgia Science and Engineering Fair will be April 11-13, 2024 at the Classic Center in downtown Athens, GA near the University of Georgia. Regeneron ISEF 2024 will take place in Los Angeles, CA from May 11-17, 2024.

All eligible middle and high school students in the state of Georgia should have access to the Science and Engineering Fair System regardless of the type of school they attend, including public, private, charter, magnet, home, and cyber schools, in accordance with state and federal laws. Regional Fairs are supported, coordinated, and sustained by colleges/universities, school boards, RESAs, STEM organizations, and/or other stakeholders local to the geographic region served. They affiliate with the Georgia Science & Engineering Fair (GSEF) to become part of the science fair system and allow students to advance to the state-level fair.

For your review ... an evaluation rubric from NSEF. This should be very similar to the rubric used at GSEF.

2021-22 GSEF Dates and Deadlines_Forsyth FINAL

The document to the left outlines timelines and to-do items.

Turn in completed forms 1, 1A, 1B, Form 3 to local director for review and approval.  Local school IRB and SRC projects must approve before experimentation.

Please note that your project must obtain proper approval at the school level before the research/project is started and may require other important forms which can be found here.

Students who qualify for the Regional Science & Engineering Fair must register their project locally using the link below before advancing further.

Aren't Sure What Approvals You Need? Try the Rules Wizard!

The Rules Wizard was designed as a first step to help students determine which forms and approvals are necessary before beginning a science fair project.

Answer all 9 questions and a results page will provide students with a list of forms and information based on answers provided. The forms and rules should be reviewed closely with your site-based supervisory teacher or mentor BEFORE experimentation begins.

The wizard is intended to be a helpful tool, but cannot account for all specifics and situations of your individual project. Please review the International Rules.

The Virtual Regeneron ISEF SRC (Scientific Review Committee) is available via e-mail at SRC@societyforscience.org to answer any specific questions you may have.

Congratulations to the 2023 Georgia Science & Engineering Fair winners!
