Thalethia B. Routt is the Acting Associate Vice President for Institutional Equity and Equal Opportunity and is responsible for upholding the institution’s commitment to equal opportunity in academic programs, employment, services, and activities. She has over twenty years of legal experience in private practice and the public sector, including over fifteen years with the University’s Office of Legal Counsel. 

In addition to serving as Chair of the University’s Equal Opportunity Committee, she is a member of the Advisory Committee for Naming University Property, Employee Benefits Committee, Equitable Economic Development Committee, Regulations Review Committee-Finance and Administration, and Risk Management Advisory Committee. She has served on several other committees throughout her tenure with the University. She was a member of the Women’s Executive Leadership Development (WELD) program 2022 cohort. She is also a DEI Implementation Leadership Team member, serving as a Co-Executive Sponsor for the Culture, Policies, and Programming Workstream, Project 11, Empanel Committee on Responsible Speech. 

A native of Berea, Kentucky, Thalethia received her undergraduate degree from the University of Louisville in 1997 and her law degree from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 2000. She is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association, John Rowe Chapter of the National Bar Association, on the Board of Directors for the Lexington Fair Housing Council, former member of two Site-Based Decision-Making Councils, the Parent Representative on the FCPS Superintendent Screening Search Committee, and a Mother Member of the Central Kentucky Chapter, Jack and Jill of America, Inc.
