Library and Resource Centre

SHINE SA's Library and Resource Centre is a key provider of comprehensive information on sexual and reproductive health and relationships.

We have a unique and extensive collection of books, articles, journals, educational materials and teaching resources available to support individuals, professionals, and organisations.

Our Library is available for residents of South Australia and is free to join.

SHINE SA’s Library is open from Monday – Thursday, 9:00am until 2:15pm.

SHINE SA Resource Centre

Our Resource Centre has a large range of sexual and relationship wellbeing resources to support professionals. Our educational resources support teachers, community and youth workers, counsellors and more to provide engaging and accurate sexual health information.

 

Resource Centre Membership

To borrow items from the Resource Centre, your organisation must be a member.

Resource Centre membership is by organisation and costs $120 per year. Members must be based in South Australia. To become a member or renew your membership fill in the Resource Centre Membership Form.

Booking resources

Once you have selected the resources you want to borrow, fill out the Resources Booking Form below. If you have trouble with the online form, please contact us on the details at the bottom of the page.

You must fill in the Despatch and Return Date fields in the form below. Bookings must be submitted at least 7 working days prior to the date you require them and can be accepted up to 6 months in advance. Please also allow 5 days for items to be returned. If resources are not returned by the Return Date your organisation may be charged a late fee and/or borrowing rights may be suspended.

SHINE SA Library

Our Library, located at SHINE SA Woodville, has a unique collection of medical, social, and educational books and journals on sexual and reproductive health and relationships.

The Library contains information on a wide range of subjects including:

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander sexual health
  • Adolescent sexual healthand relationships 
  • Contraception 
  • Disability and sexuality 
  • LGBTIQA+ issues 
  • Men’s health 
  • Multicultural issues 
  • Relationships and sexual health education 
  • Sexual assault and domestic violence 
  • Sexually transmitted infections 
  • Women’s health.

Membership is free for South Australians. Complete the following form to apply.

People from rural and regional areas of South Australia may contact the SHINE SA Library by phone on 1800 188 171 (toll free) or email library@shinesa.org.au to join.

Library services are available Monday to Thursday, 9:00 am to 2:15 pm.

At present, services are offered via email or phone.

 

Conditions for borrowing books and audiovisual items include:

  • A loan period of 2 weeks (4 weeks for non-metropolitan users)
  • Extensions of loans by phone or email before the due date
  • Loans may be returned to SHINE SA at Woodville or Hyde Street during opening hours

People from non-metropolitan areas of South Australia may have books sent directly to their home address. They will be responsible for the cost of returning their loan item by post.

SHINE SA also produces a range of resources including booklets, cards, Fact Sheets, manuals and posters which can be found on our Online Shop.
