What are the Umo App Fares?

How the Umo App Works

  • Scan to Board: When you board an MCTS bus, the WisGo validator will be to your left. Hold the QR code in your app wallet to the validator for a few seconds. You will hear a happy chime and green light if your app is accepted and a buzz and a red light if your app is not accepted. Click here for a full list of validator messages you could encounter.

  • Good for 90 Minutes: After you scan, you can board any MCTS bus (including the CONNECT 1 BRT line) and your ride will include a free transfer that's good for 90 minutes. Transfering? Remember to tap every time you board — the more you tap, the more you'll save!

  • Fare Capping: If you tap again after 90 minutes, you’ll be charged for a second fare. You’ll also automatically earn a daily fare cap for that day — which means you can ride as much as you want for the rest of the day until 2:59 a.m.

Understanding Fare Capping: Ride More. Save More.

Earn free rides with fare capping once you reach a certain number of fares each day, week or month with the Umo App. You will always get the best price possible. Instead of purchasing daily, weekly or monthly passes, our new system will deduct stored value for the amount of one ride each time you ride ($2 for regular fare, $1 for reduced fare).

  1. Pick Your Payment Type
Fare capping only works if you use the same payment type for all rides.

  2. Pay Your Fare
MCTS will get you where you need to go and Umo will track your fares. Daily (3 a.m.–2:59 a.m.), weekly (calendar week, Monday–Sunday) and monthly (calendar month 1st–31st).

  3. Enjoy Free Rides
Once you’ve hit the daily, weekly or monthly max— all rides are free for the rest of that time period. For example, for the weekly cap, starting Monday, after you reach 10 fares, every fare after that is free. With fare capping you will never pay more than $4 a day with the adult regular fare and $2 a day for the reduced fare.

How do I plan a trip?
It’s easy! You can plan a trip by entering a destination in the Where do you want to go? field of the main Directions dot line dot icon screen, tapping Search routes and selecting your preferred trip result.

TRACK YOUR BUS

How do I track my bus?

  • “Next Arrivals" are based on live GPS feeds according to the vehicle's GPS. Accuracy can vary depending on the quality of the signal available.

  • “Fixed Timetables" are the expected schedule, not a live bus. These times are compiled from MCTS timetables.

PAY YOUR FARE

How do I download the new app?
Download the Umo app on your smartphone from either the iOS App Sto.re (for iPhone devices) and Google Play Store (for Android devices).

How do I create an account?

  1. Open the app and tap Get Started.

  3. Tap Set Up Account.
  4. Set up your account with a mobile phone number, email or username and password.

After you register your mobile device and create a Umo account, you can then:

What are the fares?

Instead of purchasing daily, weekly, or monthly passes, our new system will deduct stored value for the amount of one ride ($2 for regular fare, $1 for reduced fare) each time you ride. You'll never pay more than $4 a day to ride (full fare) or $2 a day (reduced fare). Each ride will inlude a 90-minute transfer. Visit RideMCTS.com/WisGo for more details.

Once I’ve purchased my fare on the Umo App, what do I do?
Paying for your ride with the Umo App uses a Quick Response (QR) code or "Validation Code" that is linked to your Umo account once you purchase your fare. You can access your code for trip validation by going to Wallet > Show Code. To pay for your ride, you'll need to hold the QR code up to the WisGo validator.

Does a fare expire?
Yes. Fares expire within 90-minutes.

How do I purchase a group fare?
The group fare purchase option is not available via the WisGo fare collection system. The account-based system operates on individual accounts.

Do you accept Apple Pay & Google Pay?
Yes! Click here to read additional FAQs about Apple Pay & Google Pay.

How much is the fare for children?

Children can pay the reduced rate of $1 per ride. Please click here to register your child for our Reduced Fare program.

What do I show the bus operator?

When you board the bus, you will pay your fare at the validator. You do not need to show the driver a code.

How do I purchase a transfer?
Transfers are automatically included in the fare you buy. Purchasing a single ride fare allows you to ride as many buses as you'd like within 90 minutes.

Can I receive a refund?
While MCTS does not provide cash refunds, in limited circumstances, we may be able to provide stored value to resolve a fare purchase.

Can I use my UMO app or WISGo card on the CONNECT BRT Line?
Yes. For additional information regarding CONNECT, please click here
