Title

Gastroenterologist Hospitalist

Description

Loma Linda University Faculty Medical Group, Division of Gastroenterology, is seeking a Gastroenterologist Hospitalist to join our team.

The ideal candidate will be BE/BC in Gastroenterology. ERCP/EUS is not required. The GI Hospitalist will be on inpatient service every other week, alternating with an existing faculty member who is also focused on inpatient care. Only 2 days of outpatient duties will be required on the off weeks, and weekend coverage consists of only 5 weekends per year. Alternative schedules are also available.

The inpatient service is consultative-only, supported by a fellow and resident team. Consultative care focuses on general gastroenterology illnesses, complementing separate hepatology and pancreaticobiliary consult services. Loma Linda University Medical Center recently transitioned into a newly built state of the art hospital in the fall of 2021. Endoscopy suites dedicated for inpatient procedures help optimize efficiency and workflow of the gastroenterology service in the new hospital. The environment is extremely collaborative with outstanding interventional radiology, surgery, hospitalist, intensivist, anesthesia, and pharmacy support.

This is a unique opportunity for a clinician educator to work extensively with diligent and talented gastroenterology fellows. The division hosts 3 educational conferences per week and many faculty members are engaged in clinical research and would welcome collaboration/mentorship.

The Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition includes a growing faculty practicing at the University Hospital, Riverside County hospital, and the VA; this position would be primarily at the University location and involve teaching fellows and residents. Division faculty include nationally known experts in hepatology, therapeutic endoscopy and IBD. The environment is extremely collegial and mission focused on patient care and education.

Loma Linda's brand new University hospital is located approximately halfway between Los Angeles and Palm Springs, at the base of the San Bernardino mountains.  The area has excellent schools, fabulous climate, and a lower cost of living than most of Southern California.
