Short-Term and Long-Term Housing Strategies

Howard University's inventory prior to the current academic year was 5,095 beds between our Bethune Annex, College Hall North, College Hall South, Cook Hall, Drew Hall, The Harriet Tubman Quadrangle, Howard Plaza Towers - East, and Howard Plaza Towers - West.

To prepare for increased enrollment for the 2021-2022 academic year, Howard University secured additional student bed space through leasing agreements with off-campus properties. These leasing arrangements were with Mazza Grandmarc in College Park, Maryland and Washington Intern Student Housing (WISH) in Washington, D.C.'s Woodley Park.

As of October 2021, there are still hundreds of student housing beds available.

2011 Central Campus Master Plan

Howard University's prominence in scholarship focused on the African Diaspora, science, health care disparities, social justice, the arts and cultural heritage disciplines will be strengthened as academic programs are enhanced and investments are made in substantial renovations of the physical plant including new academic facilities.
