The 2023 – 2024 CHARLES GEIS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The Project Management Institute (PMI), with over 665,000 global members and additional credential holders and volunteers in 217 countries and territories, is the largest not-for-profit membership association dedicated to advancing the state of the art of project management.  A vital and forward-thinking organization, PMI is comprised of 303 chartered local chapters internationally and 30 communities of practice.  Membership in the local Montgomery County PMI Chapter is over 2000 and represents project managers in government, industry, and academia.  To introduce graduating high school seniors to information on this profession and better prepare them for project management as a potential future career, the PMI Montgomery County MD Chapter has established a college scholarship program that offers a chance to be awarded two $1500.00 scholarships to graduating high school seniors to pursue further education.  One of the scholarships will be open to all qualifying high school seniors, and the other will be open to senior high school descendant children of PMI Montgomery County MD Chapter members.

One of the PMI Montgomery County MD Chapter Scholarships is open to all high school seniors currently enrolled in a Montgomery County, Maryland high school in the 2023-2024 school year, or are being homeschooled in Montgomery County, and who plan to attend an accredited U.S. college starting in the 2024 school year.  Eligible students must have a minimum

2.75 GPA (or equivalent) and be in good standing, as well as take and pass the attached quiz about the Project Management profession.  These applicants will be considered for the “Open” Scholarship.

The other PMI Montgomery County MD Chapter Charles Geis Memorial Scholarship is open to high school seniors who are (1) the child, step-child, adopted child, foster child, or a descendant of one of these (for example, a grandchild) of a current PMI Montgomery County MD Chapter member and (2) currently enrolled in a high school or being homeschooled in the greater Montgomery County area in the 2023-2024 school year who are planning to attend an accredited U.S. college starting in the 2024 school year.  Eligible students must have a minimum 2.75 GPA (or equivalent) and be in good standing, as well as take and pass the attached quiz about the Project Management profession.  These applicants will be considered for the “Member” Scholarship and, if not selected for that, will also be considered for the “Open” Scholarship.
