Fans aren’t buying Martha Stewart’s ‘unfiltered’ selfies with ‘no facelift’

Martha Stewart is cooking up a skincare controversy.

The lifestyle guru, 81, shared some selfies from the salon chair on Instagram yesterday highlighting her “great” complexion, and while she looked amazing, many fans didn’t believe her “no facelift” claims.

“Lying in the shampoo area of @FredericFekkai the light was perfect for a new selfie!!!” Stewart wrote, sharing a photo of herself pouting at the camera while leaning against the salon sink.

In the snap, she shows off long, luxurious eyelashes and completely smooth, wrinkle-free skin.

“Absolutely no re-imaging!!!” the celebrity chef wrote. “Skin looking good after a mostly dry January and pilates @bedfordpilates every other day. By re -imaging I meant no filtering my selfie !”

Stewart — who posed topless to promote a coffee brand last year — went on to share an additional round of pictures, writing, “These are the other three selfies I took. My expression was better in the first one but my skin looks great in all of them. Un filtered. No face lift.”

The cookbook author thanked the “great derms” she works with, also claiming her skin was thanks to a “great diet. Great exercise and did I mention amazing facials @mariobadescu for the last forty years!”

Some of her followers were loving the pics, like Zac Posen, who left four heart emojis on the first post.

Ashley Graham wrote “winning always” on the second and the skincare guru himself, Mario Badescu commented, “Thank you Martha! [green heart emoji] It is an honor to take care of your skin!”

“Don’t defend your beauty,,, every time I have done your makeup I have been impressed by your beautiful skin,” makeup artist Kristofer Buckle added.

However, the bulk of the comment section was filled with followers who didn’t quite buy what Stewart was selling.

“I’d respect you more if you said this is what good botox and fillers do and where you put them so others could also benefit from those treatments,” one wrote. “No one in their right mind thinks this is a real 80 year old face or you got it from pilates.”

Another fan said, “As a life long fan of yours, this is very sad to me … Nothing fake, authenticity is what I loved about you. At this older age you have sold your soul to the fake Instagram life.”

One fan even questioned whether Stewart’s “account was hacked,” asking, “How does an almost 80 year old woman look like this without any edits or work done? It’s an honest question from a 52 year old aging female.”

Fans couldn’t believe that her appearance wasn’t thanks to plastic surgery or Botox. marthastewart48/Instagram

Whether or not the home decor designer has had work done, she does love a good Instagram thirst trap.

Whether it’s the glam pic she took to celebrate her 81st birthday or a sexy poolside shot, Stewart is always up for a selfie. In fact, she even collaborated with designer Anti Social Social Club to make hoodies featuring two of her iconic selfies, including a seductive snap of her eating an oyster.

After her salon moment, we’re looking forward to more of Stewart’s selfies in 2023.
