I had no idea that OSU had a home in Portland and I was shocked to stumble upon it
when I was walking around downtown! As an OSU eCampus student living in downtown
Portland, the OSU Portland Center was my first time “visiting” anything Oregon State
related because I’ve yet to visit Corvallis. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
The OSU Portland Center is on the second floor of the Meier & Frank building, which is
conveniently located next to Pioneer Courthouse Square. Upon getting off the elevator, I
was greeted by a warm, friendly, and welcoming OSU staff member named Tracie.

Tracie was extremely hospitable and
gave me a tour of the whole space. She
showed me the classrooms, the student
study rooms, and even the executive
conference rooms. I was stunned by the
design and aesthetic of the entire floor.
It was clean, elegant, and a delight to
occupy. The color scheme stays true to
the Beaver brand while maintaining the
beauty of the architecture.

Tracie’s enthusiasm was infectious and
it made me even more motivated and
proud to be a student at OSU. Tracie
insisted that this space was built for us, the students, to use whenever we can. So that’s
exactly what I did! The next day, instead of working from home in my apartment, I
returned to the building and made use of their student study rooms.

All the study rooms were spacious and furnished with standing desks and comfortable
desk chairs. The room I chose had a view of Portland Courthouse Square, was very
quiet, and very well lit (a nice change from my apartment!). This was a huge plus for me
because I was able to work in the building till late in the evening. Another plus is that the
building is just a block away from my favorite coffee shops and food carts in Portland
that helped me stay fueled. Furthermore, the bathrooms were spotless and there were
plenty available for use.

I cannot wait to organize a meeting with my classmates to meet here one day and show
them what we have access to. The amazing staff, the friendly student workers, and the
beautiful architecture are just a few reasons why you should be here. Whether you’re
living Downtown or only in town for the day, you should absolutely check out the OSU
Portland Center, you will not regret it.
