COLUMBUS - Powell's Save Women's Sports Act and the Ohio SAFE Act, which protect the rights of Ohio women, children, and families, are now under attack by a lawsuit from the ACLU.

"I’m saddened that the ACLU has attacked women's rights and children’s safety through this dangerous lawsuit," said Powell. "These radicals are putting their big-money donors' agendas over what is best for kids in Ohio - we cannot and should not tolerate it. Ohioans do not want biological men to compete on women's-only sports teams. It’s not safe, and it threatens female opportunities across our state. Ohioans also know it’s unacceptable to allow minors to undergo life-altering, sterilizing, and irreversible gender transition procedures and treatments.”

COLUMBUS – State Representative Jena Powell (R-Arcanum) co-sponsored a concurrent resolution on Thursday to express that Ohio stands with the State of Texas and to denounce President Biden’s administration’s open-border policies.

"The Biden Administration’s blatant disregard for defending America’s southern border is beyond belief,” Powell said.  “I commend the members of Ohio’s National Guard and State Highway Patrol and their willingness to stand with the Texas National Guard to protect our border and keep us safe."

COLUMBUS – The Save Women’s Sports Act and the Ohio SAFE Act became law, Wednesday, as the Ohio Senate voted to protect Ohio females and children by overriding Governor DeWine’s veto of H.B. 68.

The Save Women’s Sports Act prohibits males from competing in female-only sports and the Ohio SAFE Act protects minors from experimental, sterilizing, and irreversible procedures. The veto override passed with overwhelming support (24 - 8).

“I am truly grateful that after five years of uphill battles, Ohio females’ rights to safety, fairness, a future in female sports, and female scholar-athlete opportunities are finally protected in Ohio law,” said Powell. “Today, my colleagues in the Senate listened to the people that they represent, and acted in their best interests, despite pressure from the Governor.”

Rep. Powell first introduced the Save Women’s Sports Act in 2019 and she has co-sponsored the SAFE Act’s policy since it was first introduced in 2020.
