Beat the meat sweats by taking your steak into the shower.
A man who calls himself Gazpacho Machine — or Gaz, for short — on Twitter has revealed how he gets paid to eat food inside his shower.
“There’s something very funny and absurd about a man reviewing food in the shower while his life is seemingly falling apart,” Gaz told NeedToKnow.co.uk.
The Georgia man came across this odd venture when looking for ways to get rid of his hangover. He realized that eating inside the shower was an effective hangover remedy.
“Showers always made me feel better, and so did eating breakfast, so I combined the two,” Gaz recalled.
“My ex-girlfriend would always say it was gross — so one day, I was eating a sandwich in the shower and took a photo to show my friends. They found it hilarious and said more people need to see it, so I posted it to Twitter.”
Nearly 45,000 fans frolicked to Gaz’s page with donations towards each meal, wondering what he would devour next.
“Shower food review: 32oz Tomahawk ribeye – thanks to your donations, I was able to buy this huge steak,” Gaz tweeted receiving 27,000 likes.
“I got it for the absurdity of eating such a massive piece of meat in the shower, but it was actually incredible,” he quipped. “I felt like a caveman gnawing on that bone in there.”
Many thirst-quenching viewers shared their take on Gaz’s shower steak.
“Put some hot sauce on that,” drooled one person.
“Truly a beautiful sight to behold,” tweeted another.
Meanwhile, some confused viewers had just one question: “Why is this on my feed?”
Although Gaz is grateful for the donations fueling his ongoing food habits, he uses some of the proceeds to give back and “spread attention to food banks.”
“I was able to donate $100 to the Atlanta Food Bank, and I hope to donate even more,” he claimed.
Gaz has reviewed 43 food items inside his steamy shower, including a bucket from Kentucky Fried Chicken, a Philly cheesesteak and blue Takis.
“I’m aware I’m not the first person to do this, but I don’t believe anyone has done it as well as I have,” he boasted.
The shower reviews are not always a squeaky clean experience. Gaz posted several images of food he dropped in the shower, from a plate of Indian food to soft-shell tacos.
“I accidentally dropped this taco while trying to take the photo. Not the taco’s fault but gonna have to give it a 0/10,” Gaz tweeted.
One dish Gaz has no interest in eating in the shower is seafood, “You would think seafood and a wet environment would be a natural fit, but the smell is not too pleasant combined with the steam, shampoo, and soaps.”
The food critic believes, “A good shower food is one that is simple and not too filling.”
With a growing fanbase, Gaz hopes to collaborate with brands and chefs. “I want to try more exotic foods,” he said, “ranging from absurdly expensive food like caviar and gold-plated steaks.”
