Antonio Brown’s fake vaccine card drama could cost him job with Buccaneers

Buccaneers receiver Antonio Brown has had yet another eventful year — largely for the wrong reasons. According to his head coach, it may end up costing him his job.

Brown, 33, is currently serving a three-game suspension from the NFL for acquiring a fake COVID-19 vaccination card, and Pro Football Talk reported that the team was considering cutting him. Appearing on “The Dan Patrick Show” on Tuesday, Bucs head coach Bruce Arians didn’t exactly shoot those rumors down.

“It could go either way right now, it really could,” Arians said when asked if Brown would remain on the team.

Brown and Bucs safety Mike Edwards were both suspended for the fake vax cards. Arians suggested they both could be on the street sometime soon, saying the decision will be made by “just continuing where those two guys are at, and where the team is at.”

Arians said the decision will likely come later this week.

Brown has been highly productive when on the field for Tampa Bay this season, catching 29 passes for 418 yards and four touchdowns in five games. He was also a key part of the team’s championship run last year, catching a touchdown in their Super Bowl victory over the Chiefs.

Still, Brown has proven to be unreliable and unable to stay out of trouble. Earlier this year he settled a civil dispute with his former trainer Britney Taylor, who had accused him of sexual assault, and he’s had a number of other run-ins with the police, including at one point being charged for allegedly assaulting a moving-truck driver outside of his South Florida home. He was given two years probation after pleading no contest.
