Alec Baldwin took to Instagram after his tearful TV interview aired — in which he denied responsibility for the fatal shooting on the “Rust” set — to honor his wife, writing that “no one can take away from me the joy and love you have given me.”
“No matter what happens to me. No matter what I suffer. If I win or lose, anything. Anything,” the 63-year-old actor wrote a photo of himself clutching one of his kids.
“No one can take away from me the joy and love you have given me, @hilariabaldwin.”
Baldwin did not mention cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, 42, who was shot dead, leaving behind her husband and 9-year-old son.
“These are tough times. The world is choked with fumes of hate. But you have given me a reason to live,” the “30 Rock” star continued.
“Our life with our family is all I care about. Nothing else. I owe that to you.”
His post garnered almost 6,000 comments as of early Friday, many from fans who expressed their support.
“Stay strong Alec. You got this. Sending love to you. Sending love to the victims,” expressed one fan.
“Praying for you during this difficult time, you are not to blame at all,” another said.
However, others noticed the omission of Hutchins from the post and criticized his sitdown with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos, which aired Thursday night.
“You think you’re suffering think of the family of the woman you killed,” one person wrote.
“Man up, own up and deal with the consequences of your actions,” another said.
In the emotional interview with Stephanopoulos, Baldwin insisted he’s not to blame for the shooting death of Hutchins because there never should have been live rounds on the Western movie set.
The actor and producer was handling the prop revolver when a live shot rang out, killing Hutchins and wounding director Joel Souza on Oct. 21 in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
“There’s only one question that needs to be resolved, just one: where did the live round come from?” an emotional Baldwin said in the interview, his first since the fatal accident.
“Someone put a live bullet in a gun. A live bullet that wasn’t even supposed to be on the property. Someone is responsible for what happened, and I can’t say who that is, but I know it’s not me,” he said.
Baldwin also told Stephanopoulos that the most important thing in his life right now is his family, not his career.
On Tuesday, Hilaria, 37, revealed that she sometimes “freezes” during “heart-wrenching” conversations with her children about the tragedy.
“I’ve had to have some conversations, explaining recent events to my oldest children recently,” the 37-year-old yoga teacher said in an Instagram story. “You can imagine how heart-wrenching it has been.
“Sometimes, I just freeze, knowing I’m the adult who must guide my family, but so lost as to what the right direction is. There is no manual we are provided,” she continued.
“Sometimes I catch myself, surprised that I’m in the adult position, and I’m like, ‘Shouldn’t I know what to do?’ You have no idea how much all of your kindness, love and support mean. Yes, you who are reading this. I know how lucky I am to have you,” the mom added.
