Food Bank of South Jersey Summer Meals Associate

Are you interested in being part of positive change in your community. Here’s a great opportunity for you to serve as a Volunteer in Service to America (VISTA) Summer Associate to improve the lives of people in need, while building your resume as a national service volunteer. As the Summer Meals VISTA, you will serve alongside a team of professionals at the Food Bank of South Jersey (FBSJ), an organization that provides an immediate solution to the urgent problem of hunger by providing food to people in need, teaching them to eat nutritiously, and helping them to find sustainable ways to improve their lives. As the Summer Meals VISTAs, you will have the opportunity to grow the Food Bank’s Summer Meals 2020 program. In 2018, Summer Meals served over 226,000 meals at 112 sites throughout Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, and Salem Counties. This year the FBSJ expects to grow significantly and expand to underserved populations, such as teenagers and children not enrolled in summer programming, through Mobile Meals and the Bus Stop Café. You will assist in identifying gaps in services, sharing information about Summer Meals programing, monitoring program delivery, training Summer Meals staff/volunteers, and collecting information about number of individuals served to assess program effectiveness. This position will support a wide range of partners, so the applicant must be an upbeat self-starter, organized and enjoy a fast-paced work environment. AmeriCorps VISTA members leave with a valuable experience for resumes and a professional portfolio. This opportunity is perfect for a college student to gain valuable experience and earn a Living Allowance. This position requires pre-service drug screening and criminal background checks.
