Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Health Professions is dedicated to providing a high quality, inclusive and diverse, student-centered learning environment for graduate and undergraduate education in the health professions; advancing knowledge through scholarship and research; and providing clinical services that improve health and quality of life in Texas and the nation. We offer 20 different graduate and undergraduate programs across five discipline areas, all leading directly to careers in critical segments of the health care industry.

  • The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center graduate speech and language pathology program is an academically rigorous and comprehensive program recognized for its excellence in preparing speech pathologists who excel in their profession. In addition to the academic coursework, over the course of the two-year program, you will gain experience in the university clinic and at least two other settings. Many clinical opportunities are available in the Lubbock community, but students can also participate in externships in other Texas cities and across the country.   • Doctor of Audiology student Lillie McMinn was recently named the Scott Haug Outstanding Audiology Student for 2023 by the Texas Academy of Audiology. "It was an incredible honor to be named the 2023 Student Scholar by the Scott Haug Foundation of the Texas Academy of Audiology. I feel extremely blessed and humbled to be recognized by an organization that promotes exceptional knowledge and clinical practice in the field of audiology. The award is defined by integrity, compassion, and professionalism, and it means the world to me to be associated with those values." "During my time in the TTUHSC AuD program, I have enjoyed learning from a diverse set of clinical preceptors and placement in various clinical settings, from private practice to medical otolaryngology," McMinn said. "I have also enjoyed building long-lasting relationships with faculty and classmates, who will serve as a support system and references in the future." "The TTUHSC AuD program has set me up for success by fostering clinical independence and offering opportunities to grow my clinical skills," McMinn said. "Focusing equally, if not more, on clinic in addition to the classroom has been extremely valuable in becoming an effective audiologist." "I’m about to set off for my 4th year externship year at Texoma Ear, Nose, and Throat in Wichita Falls.   • Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science student Kayla Brawner says, "I have really enjoyed my time in the MLS program! I have learned so much and had some amazing opportunities, from participating in research to experiencing the workflow of a hospital lab." "The MLS program does an excellent job of preparing students, whether they plan to complete further schooling or work in a lab," Brawner said. "There are lots of hands-on opportunities, allowing students to apply the knowledge they learn in class. All of the concepts and techniques are useful for a variety of careers in healthcare. Additionally, the professors work hard to ensure that graduates are ready to take the Board of Certification exam for MLS." "My preceptorship has been an invaluable experience," Brawner said. "I have not only learned what it is like to work in a hospital lab but also seen how the concepts from class apply in real life.   • Clinical Rehabilitation Counselors empower their clients to overcome disabilities, make informed choices, build viable careers, and live more independently within their communities. They provide and coordinate services for people with a wide range of physical and psychiatric disabilities, chronic conditions or diseases, and social disabilities. Clinical rehabilitation counselors also work with employers to increase their understanding of how disabilities fit into the workplace. The Master of Science in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling (MSCR) program is a fully online graduate program designed to provide comprehensive training for the rehabilitation counseling field. Clinical education is an important component of our program and students are required to complete a practicum and internship under the supervision of an experienced professional in the field.
