kettle- Oregon Trail- Lucinda Cox Brown Allen Spencer- Leach Family- Cast iron kettle. Three legs. Iron handle. Black interior and exterior. Lettering embossed on sides. 7/8" legs, handle 3/16" diam.- one side "1 1/2 GALLONS," other side "No. 10"
tray, Indian- Western Oregon- Coast Culture Area- Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians- Siuslaw- Wide, shallow basket. Wickerwork weave technique. Two small handles attached on either side. Basket tray made of hazel twigs. No decoration.
bag, Indian- Plateau culture area- Buckskin beaded in overlay stitch technique. Designs are ornate and floral (flowers with large leaves predominating) both sides have design. Leaves and flowers in light and dark greens, yellow, blue, tan, wine, red, lavender, black, white, chartreuse, pink. Fringe along bottom and two sides. Two balls on rope to open and draw top shut. Black cloth interior lined.
sword and scabbard- United States Civil War- 1st Oregon Volunteer Cavalry- Eastern Oregon- Ames Manufacturing Co.- Model 1850. Slightly curved single edged blade, etched both sides with stands of arms, American eagle and floral sprays. Grip is wood covered with fish skin and wound with twisted brass wire. Brass pommel has Phrygian helmet shape. Knuckle bow is ribbed and pierced, expands into an oval counterguard. (a) Scabbard: Black leather with brass mountings, brass throat with one suspension ring, middle band with second ring and a tip with drag. (b) Sword belt: Black leather with suspension strap, cast brass, buckle with American eagle, brass hook, snap swivel. Blade: 32" x 1-1/8" at hilt.
compass- Oregon Trail- Black and white compass card set in glass-covered watch-type case. Knob at top for lanyard ring (ring missing.) Case: Hinged two-piece German silver, knurled ring at joint. Case: 5/8" x 1-7/8" diam. Compass: 3/8" x 1-5/8" diam.- Marked "Singer's Patent"
chain, surveyor's- Roseburg, OR- Made of 20 iron rods of one foot lengths. Bundled.
plate, offset- Seufert Brothers Company- The Dalles, OR- Heavy brass offset printing plate. Rectangular, cast, curved plate. Block and script lettering on face, reversed for offset printing. Black tape/paper adhered to front, center.- "Merrimac brand | Columbia River | Salmon | Packed by Seufert Bros. Packing Co. The Dalles, Oregon"
trap, beaver- Florence, OR- Siuslaw River- Consists of two jaws, two springs, pan and dog applied to a bottom. A chain fastened to one of the springs. Chain measures 67". Ring measures 3 1/2"
bag, Indian- Western Plateau- Nez Perce- Flat, rectangular bag. Tightly woven on a natural colored ground, with geometric designs on both sides in red, green, yellow, pale blue, black, and white. Designs are different on each side. red satin ribbon binding at the top edge, and natural colored binding at bottom edge. Materials are cotton twine, corn husk, wool yarn, satin ribbon, deer hide, brass bead.
badge, police- Portland, OR- Portland Police- Nickel-plated, round shape, star in middle, decorated with 5 balls at each point of star; stamped lettering.- "Portland 7 Police"
jar, seed- Basket, Indian- Southwest culture Area- Paiute- Twined seed jar or basket. Weave of willow twigs. Undecorated, although a faint pattern of darker and lighter materials exists. Diagonal coarse weave with narrow spout and widened shoulders. No pitch.
flask, powder- Colt Patent Firearms Co.- A colt marked navy flask of conventional form. All brass with brown lacquer finish. Sloping charger. Used with Colt's model 1851 navy revolver. Raised decoration on one side consisting of a cannon, flags, and crossed rifles and revolvers at the top with the manufacturer inscription beneath.- "COLTS PATENT"
coat, uniform- American Red Cross- Weltman, Pollack & Co.- Black/dark gray wool serge coat, silk satin faced sateen lining. Buttoned shoulder tabs and Red Cross collar tabs. Fitted style with split coattail, 4 buttoned, flap covered pockets and belt. All buttons are metal Red Cross buttons, fastened by 3 in front. Dark blue velvet patch with gold metallic embroidered figure "8" with arrow through the "8". 2 bar chevrons on sleeve cuff.
skirt, uniform- American Red Cross- Dark gray wool skirt. A-line, below knee-length. Vertical pleat extends the length of the center front, stitched down at the top and bottom. Two patch pockets on the front with shield-shaped flaps and central box pleat on each. Brass Red Cross buttons on the pockets (one missing). Closure on the left side with placket and 5 metal snaps. facing inside top with cream-colored waistband tape. Bound seams and hem inside.
hat, uniform- American Red Cross- World War I- Dark gray wool serge women's service hat. Self-material band and flat CF bow. Rigid crown side with soft crown top. Several rows of topstitching along curved brim. Fully lined with dark silk faced sateen.
bag- Khaki colored cotton draw string bag with snap fastener inside. Red ribboned Red Cross sign, machine sewed on lower end of bag. Red cord draw string.
moccasin, Indian- Plateau culture area- Nez Perce- Coeur d'Alene- Pair of buckskin moccasins, with beaded decorations. usual moccasin construction, with stitched flap that runs around the top edge and hangs down the sides of the shoe. Long narrow tongue and single eyelet on each side with a buckskin thong to secure. Beaded floral decoration on the front with pink and blue leaf shapes attached to green stems.
skirt- Wool serge skirt; charcoal grey; two patch pockets at right side; US Army buttons.
jacket, uniform- wool serge uniform jacket; charcoal grey; four patch pockets; US Army buttons; belt.- "Agnes Isabel Fox" in blouse collar
insignia- Burnished metal, medical symbol (caduceus), small oval ("O") between wings, pinback with hook clasp. Two identical insignias (.1 and .2).- small "O" possibly for orderly
insignia- Burnished metal, letter shape, pinback with hook clasp. Two identical pins.- "U.S."
wax seal- Brass, round with dots, to be used on sealing-wax, maple handle. Carved initials on the bulbous part of the handle.- "AW"
notes- People's Institute Sewing School- Vida S. Nichols- Assorted notes, cards, and pamphlets found with the maker's sewing work (65-48.1).

ceremonial apron, Indian- Klamath- Black dyed pine seeds on leather strings (112); attached to leather belt on end of strings- 2 natural colored seeds and 2 shells separated with blue glass beads.
necklace, Indian- Plateau culture area- Klamath- Blue beads and beans. All aqua-blue, 1 dark blue and 2 light green glass circular beads interspersed with flat cylindrical black beans. Strung on white string.
