Join More Than a Model and the Xi Sigma Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. for an inspiring Day of Service as we celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through a creative and collaborative project.
This MLK Day, we invite middle and high school students to be part of an extraordinary photo montage that not only honors a historical icon but also echoes the values of unity and equality.
This is MORE THAN just an art project; it's a chance for you to make your mark on the community and build skills that will shine on college applications and resumes. By participating, you'll be connecting the dots between your history, art classes and real-world activism, bringing your learning to life in a meaningful way.
Most importantly, we want to hear your voice. Your perspective is unique and valuable, and this project is a platform for you to express your views on peace, equality, and community. Through your artwork, you can make a statement that resonates with others and contributes to a larger conversation about the ideals Dr. King stood for.
Your participation in this montage will not only create a lasting tribute to Dr. King but also showcase the power and creativity of our community. Join us in this engaging Day of Service and be part of a project that celebrates our history and looks forward to a future of continued unity through understanding.
You will also have the opportunity to participate in service projects such as:
- Emergency "Kare Kits" Assembly
- Assemble stuff animals, hygiene kits, coloring books and much more in a backpack to be donated to a Montgomery County police station to be provided to children removed from their homes in emergency situations.
- Comfort Pack Assembly
- Assemble Adult Activity Books and Pencils to be donated to a senior center in Montgomery County
- Greeting Cards
- Craft greeting cards to go with the Emergency Kare Kits, Comfort Packs, Pretty Pouches and Gentlemen's Kits.
- Window Hangers Creation
- Craft window Hangers to go with the Emergency Kare Kits, Comfort Packs, Pretty Pouches and Gentelmen's Kits.
- Pretty Pouches Assembly
- Assemble hygiene products to be donated to a women's shelter in Montgomery County.
- Gentlemen's Kit Assembly
- Assemble hygiene products to be donated to a men's shelter in Montgomery County.
Student participation in this service project is at the discretion of the student’s parent/guardian and must be completed outside of school hours. The nonprofit organization is responsible for maintaining student safety. Parents/guardians should contact the nonprofit directly with any questions and/or concerns.
