We need volunteers for the Montgomery County Thanksgiving Parade to act as unit leaders, leading the balloons and dressing up in costume to be in the parade or on the floats. Also, we need assistance with set-up and break-down.
Note: Masks are not required, but please feel free to wear one if it makes you more comfortable.
The parade takes place the Saturday before Thanksgiving, in downtown Silver Spring. The hours are from 7:30am to 1:30pm (you need to be present the whole time) on Saturday, November 19. Dress warmly, as you will be outside. You should try and wear red as your outside layer color. Once you arrive, you will be assigned a position and given directions about your volunteer job. The parade is a couple of hours long, so when you get through the parade once, you should go back to the beginning and the volunteer coordinator will put you on another float/balloon. The same is true after the parade, for clean-up/costume sorting/ float break-down. Check-in for volunteers will be at the Silver Spring Civic Building, One Veterans Place at the corner of Ellsworth Drive and Fenton Street, 20910. Age 13 and above.
The parade is absolutely the most fun way to get SSL hours! You are in a parade!
