Description

2021 Pride Month Youth Writing Competition
Deadline: June 23, 2021

Councilmember Evan Glass encourages MCPS students to think critically about the importance of inclusivity and intersectionality in the context of the LGBTQ+ movement. Starting Tuesday, June 1, we will begin accepting submissions for our inaugural Pride Month Student Writing Competition with the following prompt:

“This Pride, Councilmember Evan Glass and Montgomery County leaders will be flying the Progress flag, which includes stripes to highlight trans individuals and communities of color –– for whom much progress remains to be made. In 250 words of less, write an essay or poem about what LGBTQ+ inclusivity means to you.”

MCPS High School students may earn 2 SSL hours for a quality submission to the Writer's Competition hosted by Councilmember Evan Glass. To earn SSL hours, students must submit an essay or poem that meets the contest criteria and reflects thoughtful, insightful, and meaningful work. Letters should be 250 words or less.

Students, please DO NOT respond to this opportunity. All students may participate and earn 2 SSL hours by submitting a quality essay or poem to https://bit.ly/writerscompetition2021.
(Please make sure you are signed into your MCPS student gmail account to access the form.)

Deadline for submission is Wednesday, June 23, 2021. Each student may only enter one submission. All Entries will become the sole property of MCG. MCG may publicly use the Entries online, in print, and in other communications.
