Introducing Wolfe Village!

Dear Families and Friends of Tamarack Camps,

Even as the temperatures dip and snow falls, we continue to build toward the summer of 2024 — and beyond.

Now, with that in mind, it is with great excitement and immense gratitude that we share more exciting news: Through the generosity of Andi and Larry Wolfe, and their continued commitment to Jewish camping and our community, this summer we are opening a new home at camp for boys entering 6th grade — Wolfe Village!

The state-of-the-art village will include a new central lodge, bath house, and six cabins with comfortable space designed for campers and staff members. Wolfe Village (formerly Levison) will also provide an opportunity to serve more community groups during the fall, winter and spring.

This exciting project will expand upon traditional Mid-Side programming and allow our team to create new options, all of which are intentionally designed to build skills, foster independence, enhance Jewish identity and inspire life-long passions. Along with some new, surprise programs, Wolfe Village campers can look forward to traditional favorites, including theme days such as “Choose your own Adventure,” Wolfe Hockey League, Camp-Chella, Extreme Games and a short (yet meaningful) camping trip — just to name a few!

Andi and Larry Wolfe are two of our Detroit Jewish community’s most supportive philanthropists, impacting many causes locally and in Israel. Larry is a past president of the Jewish Federation of Detroit, a recipient of the Fred M. Butzel Award (2021), and currently serves on the International Board for the Weizmann Institute and Rambam Health Care Campus. Andi currently serves locally on the boards of Jewish Family Service, Hebrew Free Loan, ORT America and the Michigan chapter of American Technion Society. Andi is also on the international Board of Governors of the Technion in Israel.

Andi, Larry and their family are also a multigenerational Tamarack family, with Andi as a proud alumna. They have sent their own kids to camp — and, with their participation at Bubbie Zaydie, grandkids, too!

“As we’ve seen through our own family, supporting Tamarack and Jewish camping is an investment in the long-term vibrancy of our community. At Tamarack, children establish their Jewish identities and the total experience inspires future community leaders. We are proud that Wolfe Village will be a part of Tamarack's five-generation tradition and positively impact boys entering 6th grade and the broader camp community for years to come.”

"The Wolfes understand and care deeply about our Detroit Jewish community," said Steven Ingber, CEO of the Jewish Federation of Detroit. "This investment in Wolfe Village is helping to ensure we build proud Jewish leaders and role models for the Detroit Jewish community and beyond.”

Wolfe Village marks the 10th village to have been updated since Tamarack began our master site plan in 2010. We are grateful for the master plan committee and board of directors, who have been instrumental through the years in carrying forth these visions into fruition.

Finally, to the 2024 Wolfe Village campers: We can't wait for you to enjoy a new summer home!

With deep gratitude and boundless excitement,
