The Teaching with Primary Sources Western Region and the TPS Teachers Network at Metropolitan State University of Denver are hosting a series of professional development webinars starting Tuesday, March 31, 2020 and going until Thursday, May 14th, 2020. Each webinar in the month of April will be from 4:00 - 5:00pm (Mountain Time) on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Using The QFT with Primary Sources from the Library of Congress


The Library of Congress (LOC) has a rich array of primary sources available online. How can you use these sources during this time of distance learning to engage your students in discussion, questioning protocols, and investigations? Join The Right Question Institute, the Library of Congress, the National Council for the Social Studies, and inquirED for practical tips, and useful strategies to take learning online.

Teaching with Primary Sources Internship at the Young Readers Center


The Young Readers Center (YRC) at the Library of Congress seeks interns to support the daily operation of the YRC and help it more closely align its programming for families with children (ages 7+) with Library of Congress digitized collections. Interns will gain high-quality experience while working alongside Library staff to devise, test, and disseminate approaches for offering enriched, primary source-based programming for the target audience. 
*Monthly stipend available.

Library of Congress Online Office Hours


Join Library of Congress education specialists on WebEx every Tuesday and Thursday from 2:00 – 3:00 pm ET. Each session will include a 20 minute topical presentation with plenty of time for questions and answers with Library experts. Upcoming session topics include:
  • April 7, 2020: Local History Resources
    • Help students explore the history that happened outside their front door. 
  • April 9, 2020: Chronicling America
    • Learn about the digitized historic newspapers available through Chronicling America.
