Softball’s Doyle Earns 'Go Teach' Scholarship

BATON ROUGE – LSU softball senior Amanda Doyle has earned a $2,500 scholarship as part of the College Football Playoff Dr. Pepper Go Teach Initiative.

With the help of the College Football Playoff Foundation and in partnership with Dr. Pepper, the SEC awarded one student-athlete from each SEC school with a $2,500 tuition support.

The College Football Playoff Foundation is the community-engagement arm of the College Football Playoff, supporting education across the country. The CFP Foundation is dedicated to elevating the teaching profession by inspiring and empowering teachers and its work is focused within four core areas: resources, recognition, recruitment and professional development.

“My initial feelings were an overwhelming feeling of gratitude,” said Doyle. “I’m grateful for everyone that has helped me get to where I am today: my parents and sister, my coaches, the awesome support staff at LSU, and my mentors in the education field I’ve been extremely lucky to have met and worked alongside of. I truly couldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for these amazing people helping me out along the way.”

The Go Teach project seeks assistant with the recruitment of great teachers, but they also represent the diversity that the student across the country need to lead our classrooms.

Doyle graduated on Friday with a degree in elementary education. Following graduation she plans to work towards her master’s in curriculum and instruction.

“This is a great honor for a great student-athlete,” said head coach Beth Torina. “Amanda is an incredible representative of our program. She upholds our core values in all that she does and truly lives TIGERS every day.

“She is going to make an excellent teacher and will always work hard to make sure she is giving her students her best. We are proud of Amanda for receiving this scholarship just as we are proud of everything else she does.”
