Officers with the Columbia Police Department were investigating Saturday after two separate shooting incidents lead to the deaths of two teens.

According to a news release, police responded to a shots fired call Friday at 11:55 p.m. near the intersection of Forest Avenue and Grand Avenue. Officers found two people in the area with gunshot wounds, 28-year-old Sam Baldwin IV and 18-year-old Nadria Wright.

Both sustained life-threatening injuries and police said Wright was later pronounced dead at an area hospital.

A few hours later, police responded to a report of shots fired near the intersection of 5th Avenue and Park Avenue. Officers were told someone had been shot and was taken to an area hospital in a private car.

The hospital contacted CPD a short time later, stating a gunshot victim had arrived in the emergency department.

Police identified the victim as 19-year-old E'quan Spain. He was later pronounced dead.

CPD was investigating both incidents and no arrests had been made as of Saturday afternoon, according to the news release.

Robin Harris a nearby resident said he heard the gunshots outside.

"Everyone was a little shook up, the ones that were well waken up by the shooting, but this area is kind of known for shootings so you're always on your toes," Harris said.

Another nearby resident Gloria Elliott said there was a lot going on last night.

"I seen a lot of lights flashing right out in this area over here, and wondered about what was going on," Elliott said.

Anyone with information regarding either incident was asked to contact the department at (573) 874-7652 or Crimestoppers at (573) 875-TIPS to remain anonymous.
