Frail Elderly (FE) Waiver Program

The hours of service are based on the assessed needs of the individual. The Managed Care Organization will meet with you and create and individualized, person-centered service plan to your needs.

• For help with authorized services call your MCO Care Coordinator.
• For help with your Medicaid eligibility contact the KanCare Clearinghouse. KDADS does not determine Client Obligation or Medicaid Spend Down. The KanCare Clearinghouse manages these items.
• For help with your waiver eligibility contact your ADRC.
  

Self-Direction is an option that allows you to direct your own services. These services are determined by the MCO Care Coordinator and individual to be essential to the maintenance of their health and welfare. When you choose to self-direct you are responsible for multiple tasks such as choosing, training, monitoring and dismissal of the worker. Attendant Care Services is the only service that can be self-directed for the FE waiver.

You can choose a family member to provide Attendant Care Services. The family member cannot be a spouse or a person who has been appointed by you or the court to represent you (Acting on Behalf, Activated Durable Power of Attorney, and Guardian/Conservator).

The HCBS FE program will pay for some but not all services delivered to you in an Assisted Living Facility, Residential Health Care Facility, Home Plus or Boarding Care Home. You are responsible for paying for their room and raw food costs. HCBS FE will pay for the direct services provided to the customer in accordance with the Plan of Care.
